Director – Financial Reporting recruitment
This financial reporting role will lead a high performing team primarily responsible for the accuracy, completeness and timely filing of SEC regulatory filings for the 235 U.S. iShares Exchange Traded Funds. The role will include direct management of 3 staff, third party vendor relationship management, audit management, project management, ensuring effectiveness of controls and disclosure quality / standards management.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Manage the process around the preparation, review and timely distribution of fund regulatory/shareholder materials relating to financial reporting under the Investment Company Act of 1940, including annual and semi-annual reports, Form N-SAR, Form N-CSR and Form N-Q.
• Ensure that content and disclosure for regulatory filings related to financial reporting, are complete and current in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and relevant SEC rules and regulations.
• Liaise with auditors for multiple fiscal year ends ensuring efficient and effective audits through proactive engagement and timely issue resolution.
• Review and evaluate the work of third party financial reporting preparers serving as quality control and standard setter.
• Continuously analyze process seeking to identify opportunities for improved risk management and process effectiveness both at BlackRock and at service providers
• Maintain documented financial reporting policies and procedures.
• Keep current on industry topics and accounting pronouncements affecting investment companies and ensure effective implementation of new requirements.
• Develop networks internal to BlackRock and in the broader industry for the benefit of the Fund Administration team.
• Coach and mentor staff to expand their skill sets and identify opportunities for growth and development.
• Multi-task between overlapping weekly, monthly and quarterly deadlines including special projects while overseeing the work of staff doing the same.
Qualifications:
• BS/BA degree in business administration or accounting, CPA preferred
• 10+ years of regulated investment company experience required
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
• In-depth knowledge of investment funds
• Detailed knowledge of the Investment Company Act of 1940
• Experience in leading teams in a high performance culture
• Significant experience in preparing or auditing financial statements of regulated investments companies or private funds.
• Someone that thrives in a highly interdependent team environment, but is also able work independently and demonstrates accountability
