Director of Fine and Performing Arts

QUALIFICATIONS:          

Experienced excellence as a teacher of fine or performing arts; Licensed or eligible for licensure as a content area director; Masters degree preferred.

GENERAL DUTIES:
In addition to teaching 1/5 assignment (.2 FTE), the Director supervises, mentors, and assesses all fine and performing arts teachers district-wide. The Director is a member of the District Leadership Council, leads curriculum development and implementation in the fine arts, organizes and conducts divisional staff  meetings, coordinates and manages district-wide fine and performing arts events in coordination with teachers, oversees the fine and performing arts budget and expenditures, and manages programs and

personnel to maintain and enhance the district’s long-term successes in the fine and performing arts.  The Director will attend most in- and out-of-school performing arts events and will work effectively with community-based and parent-sponsored organizations that contribute to the fine and performing arts.  The Director is responsible for interviewing and recommending to the Superintendent or Designee candidates for teaching positions in the fine and performing arts. The Director also oversees out-of-school fine and performing arts programs such as the Saturday music classes.  The Division of Fine and Performing Arts includes programming in Music, Visual Arts, Theatre Arts, and Dance.
