Director, GGS Engineering Quality - Niles, Illinois
This individual will be responsible for providing strategic direction and leadership for Engineering and Quality across the global sourcing organization.
Responsible for developing, maintaining and training of all GGS engineering, testing and quality processes and procedures globally
Responsible for developing, monitoring and managing key performance metrics – including product quality, engineering effectiveness, regulatory cycle time management, value engineering, etc
Develop and maintain a risk management plan to insure that the Company is protected from product liability and regulatory claims for our exclusive brand products.
Manage engineering cost metrics to insure productivity improvements based on total assortment, sales and new program development
Develop and maintain voice of the customer processes that provide a clear understanding of end-user acceptance / approval of sourced products as well feedback from the sales and customer service teams
Actively manage patent review process to insure Grainger does not violate any existing patents relative to private label products
Manage quality awareness and quality corrective action processes so that root cause is identified and mitigated for future occurrences

Direct impact on the success of the organizations financial performance and ability to support multiple business units private label programs
Member of the global sourcing leadership team with a direct impact to the strategic direction of the team.
Impacts the strategic direction of the exclusive brand product portfolio. Input into the product line review process, for example, influences the preferred product profile in regards to technical and after-market requirements.
Impacts the overall quality (real and perceived) of exclusive products sold through each business unit
Direct impact on Grainger’s ability to drive exclusive brand product sales and profitability in a timely fashion.
BA/BS in Engineering/ MBA preferred along with 7 plus years background and equivalent work experience.
Proven track record in leading a multi-country engineering team
Experience in all aspects of private label engineering program development
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
Demonstrated leadership skills to hire, coach and
develop a high performing team
Entrepreneurial drive and willingness to take prudent risks
Strong bias towards getting results, accountability, and speed
Track record in developing creative and innovative solutions
Flexibility to travel both domestically and internationally
