Position Summary

Under general direction of the Vice President – Compensation, Benefits and Payroll, responsible for leading the activities in the global design, implementation and administration of AmerisourceBergen’s pay for performance objectives. The Director of Global Compensation and Benefits ensures that the compensation-related programs offered to ABC associates worldwide continue to support the organization’s strategic objectives.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

 

  1. Responsible for the management and administration of compensation programs such as base pay and incentive pay on a global basis; ensures equity across the businesses.
  2. Evaluates and compares existing compensation structure with those of other employers by analyzing plans, surveys, and other sources of information to maintain a competitive and equitable compensation and benefits structure that attracts, retains and motivates high performing employees.
  3. Conducts due diligence to integrate compensation and benefit programs following mergers and acquisitions on a global scale.
  4. Focuses on setting the strategic direction for global compensation and benefits and overseeing their administration.
  5. Assists in formulating policies and pay practices for expatriates and global offices.
  6. Ensures that compensation and benefits programs comply with legal requirements on a worldwide basis in locations and jurisdictions in which the company operates and align with the AmeriscourceBergen’s global business objectives.
  7. Works closely with the compensation department and HR partners across all business units to provide guidance and recommendations as it relates to compensation-related pay challenges and practices globally.
  8. Plans, develops, and/or participates in industry salary surveys; analyzes results of surveys and develops specific recommendations for review by management; identifies credible survey sources and updates compensation reference library.
  9. Reviews geographic differentials annually and makes recommendations for changes, if necessary.
  10. Utilizes updated reference materials to determine need for salary structure movement; makes recommendations for changes to salary structure.
  11. Implements approved plans and modifications by working with Director of Communications to facilitate the preparation of communication materials, booklets, and other materials for associates; responsible for maintaining communication material up to date.
  12. Manages the evaluation process for newly created positions using established evaluation system and determines grade assignment, ensuring internal and external equity.
  13. Creates job descriptions for Non-US new and existing positions and maintains job description library to ensure updated descriptions by position are accessible to HR associates responsible for Non-US assocaites.
  14. Manages the process for Non-US incentive programs by ensuring that associates are paid according to schedule and correctly based on a number of performance measures; manages the equity program for Non-US participants.
  15. Responsible for managing and directing the international efforts relative to the merit increase cycles and schedules; ensures that summary reports are generated for use by the Compensation Review Committee.
  16. Leads the efforts and activities of a group of support staff to ensure compensation inquiries and issues are resolved quickly, equitably and courteously.
  17. Participates and leads special projects as needed on a global basis.
  18. Performs related duties as assigned.
Experience and Education Requirements

Requires broad training in fields such as business administration, accounting, sales, marketing, computer sciences or similar vocations generally obtained through completion of a four year bachelor's degree program or equivalent combination of experience and education; normally requires a minimum of six (6) years directly related and progressively responsible experience, including at least two (2) years at a manager level with global responsibility and influence; Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) preferred.

Minimum Skills, Knowledge and Ability Requirements

  1. 1. Demonstrated knowledge of compliance and other regulatory issues that impact compensation and benefits on a global scale, including reviewing, designing and implementing competitive compensation and benefit plans post-acquisition.

  2. Extensive experience in mergers and acquisitions, particularly leading global due diligence efforts for compensation and benefits.
  3. Ability to design, development, implementation and ongoing administration of global compensation systems and programs including base pay, variable compensation, sales and executive compensation.
  4. Experience developing and implementing a global total rewards program that aligns with company goals and business objectives.
  5. Strong customer service orientation, ability to lead and develop people and create effective organizational structures to build high performing teams in a virtual and global environment.
