Director Global Tax Accounting

A world class company in Park Ridge, New Jersey is seeking a Director of Global Tax. Responsibilities: * Manage the monthly and quarterly tax closing and reporting processes including the FIN 18 tax rate and provision calculations and effective tax rate analysis to include determining discreet items on a consolidated and legal entity basis * Monitor the current and deferred tax reporting for all domestic and foreign legal entities pursuant to SFAS 109 including analysis and determination of valuation allowances, and APB 23 and FAS 52 translation adjustments * Analyze tax exposures including the determination of appropriate tax reserves pursuant to company policy, SFAS 109, FIN 48, and FAS 5; ensure all required documentation to support and disclose tax reserves is prepared and maintained * Coordinate with Accounting and Business Planning to obtain and analyze legal entity pre-tax and forecasted P/Ls and evaluate the income tax accounting impact; analyze monthly variances to determine impact on tax accounting * Research and implement new accounting pronouncements with tax accounting implications * Prepare tax footnotes and other income tax disclosures for SEC filings * Maintain and improve tax account reconciliation policies and procedures * Maintain quarterly SOX 404 internal control procedures for tax accounting and ensure all processes are properly documented and tested; coordinate with internal and external attest auditors for control testing * Review year-end non-U.S. tax provision calculations and manage non-U.S. tax departments to resolve income tax accounting issues * Ensure legal entity tax basis balance sheets properly reflect all tax accounts * Coordinate with external attest auditors on all income tax accounting issues * Evaluate all existing tax accounting processes for continuous improvement * Assist with automating and digitizing the global tax accounting process utilizing third party software * Supervise and develop staff The minimum requirements to qualify for this position are as follows: * A Bachelor's degree in Accounting * Eight to twelve years of diverse tax accounting experience in public accounting and large multi-national company with Global FAS 109 experience from a Large Global Company * Excellent knowledge of Accounting for Income Tax rules and current FASB interpretations as well as solid general knowledge of GAAP rules * Ability to convey complex accounting and SOX rules to a global audience that is not necessarily proficient in U.S. GAAP or Tax concepts and for whom English may not be their first language * Ability to manage competing priorities and the pressures associated with SEC financial statement filings and quarterly earnings releases * Proficient in Sarbanes-Oxley 404 rules and their application to all tax functions * Must be an aggressive self starter with proven thought leadership skills and the ability to translate ideas into value added solutions * Strong analytical / problem solving skills and excellent written and verbal communication skills * Excellent process management; organizational and time management skills * Ability to develop Best Practice processes; and implement and maintain those processes to ensure maximum efficiency and accuracy * Strong work-paper and documentation skills * Technological proficiency with Excel, Word, tax accounting software, etc. * Detail oriented and active learner * Able to manage and develop subordinates Preferred: * Advanced degree in Tax and/or CPA * Working knowledge of Hyperion Consolidation software and previous experience with Accounting for Income Taxes software implementation and utilization
