Director, Health Data Analysis Center Job in Silver Spring, Maryland Us

Social Scientific Systems (SSS) is seeking a Director to lead its Health Data Analysis Center, a group with over 40 highly experienced computer programming staff, skilled in working with a broad range of healthcare data. The Center has a solid portfolio of high visibility work with Government clients and is looking for a dynamic leader to expand to additional Federal government, state, and commercial clients. Center staff work collaboratively with health researchers to analyze an array of healthcare data--including survey, Medicare, Medicaid, and private claims, and hospital administrative data--to study trends in health care spending, utilization of services, and access to healthcare services; to analyze Medicare and other health programs; and to assess quality and outcomes.

The position reports to the Group Vice President, Health Policy and Data Analysis, and serves as a member of the Company's Operations Council. The Director has a high level of autonomy and works collaboratively with other Centers that conduct health policy research and develop web applications. The Center Director has primary responsibility for staff recruitment and supervision. Social Scientific Systems is prepared to make substantial investments in the growth and development of the Center.

Position requires excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as strong quantitative skills. Knowledge of SAS preferred. Most have strong project management and business development expertise. Must have knowledge of the Federal procurement process.

Required Experience

Bachelor's degree in economics, related social science, or public health. Advanced Degree is preferred.Twelve years of related experience, with six years project management experience. Must have broad knowledge of the health care delivery system and familiarity with statistical programming applications. Must demonstrate in-depth knowledge of corporate management policies and procedures and government contracting environment.Five years of previous supervisory experience is strongly preferred. Experience managing complex projects is required. Preference given to applicants with extensive knowledge of data uses and needs in private sector, including private insurers and employers.
