Director Human Resources, Commercial
Summary
Responsible for developing and driving employee service strategies, policies/procedures, processes and activities for the Commercial Business, to ensure the best use of company and workforce resources and facilitate achievement of the mission and goals of the business.
Essential Duties Responsibilities (Note: Other duties may be assigned)
- Advise management team in areas including but not limited to employee organizational development, performance management, employee relations, adherence and interpretation of company policies and procedures, compensation, and benefits.
- Drive semi-annual and annual performance management process for client groups.
- Translate HR and business strategy into tactical plans such as implementing organizational change, people development, talent management, career development and compensation processes to support the attraction and retention of key staff.
- Pro actively supports all recruiting efforts and participate in resource planning and allocation.
- Regularly assess customer needs and satisfaction, and adjust services accordingly.
- Provide advice and guidance to Client Groups on company policies and processes such as performance management and employee relations matters. Ensures accuracy, completeness, fairness and legal enforceability.
- Preparation and participation in annual organizational talent review (OTR).
- Strategize compensation planning including participation in annual salary surveys and incentive compensation programs for Sales.
- Counsel and coach management in areas of career development, job performance, and conflict resolution.
- Work as a partner with other human resources employees to implement or communicate any HR-related programs, activities and projects.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with changing, multi-state employment compliance requirements.
Qualifications
- 8-10 years HR management experience, preferably in a high volume, fast-paced environment.
- Previous experience in the Life Sciences industry.
- Global experience a plus.
- Previous experience with Talent Management and Organizational Development strongly preferred.
- Must have a positive approach to people and problem solutions along with a strong sense of discretion and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Strong influencing and consultation skills required. Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality, and employ direct but diplomatic interaction with candidates, HR team and managers.
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to interact with vendors, employees and management at all levels of the organization.
- Knowledge of California and Federal employment laws, with multiple state employer experience helpful.
- MS Office experience. Prior experience with HRIS – PeopleSoft and SAP highly desirable.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize a must. Must be self-directed with a strong sense of urgency and able to work with little supervision.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally 5-15%.
Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
- HR Certification (PHR or SPHR) strongly preferred.
- Requires a minimum of 8-10 years progressively responsible HR generalist experience to include atleast 5 years recent senior level HR Business Partner experience supporting a Commercial Business Unit.
- Must have prior experience supporting a Sales Organization.
