Position Summary:
As a member of senior leadership team the HR Director directs and manages human resources activities in compliance with company philosophy, objectives and legal requirements. Recommends and leads the implementation of HR programs, policies, procedures and practices that focus on attracting, retaining and developing the employee base. Responsible for the overall administration, coordination and evaluation of the Human Resources function.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- As the HR Leader acts as a resource to the business on HR topics; designs and delivers HR solutions in response to various requests and needs in the areas of: employee relations, recruiting, training and development, overall administration of compensation and benefit programs; ensures compliance with legislated requirements such as EEO, wage and hour, ADA, OSHA
- Leads the recruitment process for the organization. Identifies, analyzes escalated employee relation problems and takes appropriate action to correct such problems
- Coordinates with HR Corporate and Legal on legal problems, lawsuits and compliance issues
- Oversees the administration of the compensation and benefits programs for organization to include pay adjustments, incentive and bonus programs
- May oversee workers compensation claims and coordinates work with insurance carrier and Corporate staff
- Directs and maintains various activities designed to promote and maintain a high level of employee morale
- Leads the succession planning process implementing development programs to enhance current skills and develop new skills required for the future
- Continually review strengths and weaknesses of senior leadership to identify specific skills required to continue in a leadership capacity as well as identification of high potential candidates for succession
- Fosters an engaged employee workforce allowing employees to provide input into decision making process affecting their jobs, units or departments
- Develops and manages an annual budget for the department and manages expenses within established guidelines
- Determine manpower requirements and plan for current and future needs
- Leads an HR staff located at the site
- Asses staff training and development needs, coaches and provides solutions
- Leads the annual performance management process for organization
- Serves as company EEO specialist
- Consults with, advises, and coaches local entity leaders and employees on a range of issues related to managing people and developing organizational capabilities, including performance, career development, diversity, sexual harassment, discrimination, and terminations
- Conducts initial investigations involving harassment, EEOC, and similar types of claims ensuring legal compliance, as directed
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree and 10 years required with a minimum of five years of HR leadership experience or an equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities
- In-depth knowledge of Human Resources Policy and Employee Relations General knowledge of other HR disciplines; ability to identify situations where programs/policies/procedures cut across functional areas; ability to develop and coordinate appropriate response
- Ability to identify, analyze, develop solutions and make decisions on complex or unique issues which address the company's business needs
- High energy level, comfortable performing multi faceted projects in conjunction with normal activities
- Enormous level of interpersonal skills, tact, maturity and flexibility
- Background in employment law and other government compliance regulations is preferred
- Experience in a manufacturing environment is required
- Experience in a government contracting environment is preferred
- Experience working with HRIS systems to include ADP, Learning Management/Performance Management Systems and excellent computer skills is required
- Strong communication skills and proven success in communicating effectively with all levels of the organization, both internally and externally.
- Demonstrated conflict resolution and negotiation skills. Ability to objectively coach employees and management through complex, difficult, and emotional issues
- Ability to multi task, organize and prioritize work
