DIRECTOR, INTERNATIONAL INSURANCE CLIENT STRATEGY, PRESTIGIOUS ASSET SERVICING BANK recruitment

THE ROLE
Based in the City of London or in Toronto, the Director, Insurance Client Strategy, will have a leading role within the Product and Client Strategy Department, and report to the Head, Institutional Client Strategy, based in Toronto, who is responsible not only for insurance, but also for pensions and sovereign wealth funds. They will work closely with Product Marketing and Development, and Strategists for other segments.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic Development 
• Develop the strategic direction for the insurance segment in Canada, and in appropriate global markets, notably the UK and Europe,  consistent with overall corporate strategic priorities, increasing size of wallet;
• Protect and increase market share among the most important clients and prospects;
• Generate development plans to update/extend current product offerings, and/or recommend new service areas;
• Identify and assist in the progression of appropriate non-organic opportunities and partnerships, e.g. MA activity;
• Work with Product Manager to improve internal information flow, and ensure regular and formal development reviews occur for any new work developed in response to individual client needs to ensure that enhancements may be valid for many clients, not just one in isolation.

Market Profile 
• Build strong market presence strategy; Reinforce and deepen large market share in Canada, build up in UK and Europe;
• Assess market and competitive developments to ensure strengths are leveraged and vulnerabilities proactively mitigated;
• Continuously identify opportunities to enhance the bank's value proposition to its current and prospective insurance clients;
• Maintain visibility/connectivity within the business community and build a network of leading-edge information intelligence. Partner with Segment, Operations, Client Service and Relationship Management teams to synthesise information broadly;
• Lead the development of a marketing and communications plan for overall approach to the segment in collaboration with marketing;
• Participate in the planning and execution of events and sponsorships that will contribute to our market presence and reputation.

• Pricing of segment;
• IT and Product Development: plans related to segment.

 POSITION REQUIREMENTS/SPECIFICATIONS (competencies, technical skills, education and experience)
• University or post-graduate degree. MBA would be a distinct advantage;
• 10 - 15 years experience on client side, insurance industry, or directly serving the insurance industry, with success identifying, launching, and commercialising new products. Someone who can act with authority, intelligent and energetic, making an impact with a small elite team;
• Demonstrated external profile within industry/ies
• Excellent interpersonal skills and networking abilities with clients, industry associations and business leaders;
• Strategic and creative approach to business;
• Superior communication and presentation skills;
• Ability to lead initiatives, manage cross-functional relationships without authority;
• Knowledge of foreign languages, such as French, would be an advantage, but this is not essential.
