Job Description
- This role involves leading the analysis of subnational ratings in Australia/New Zealand although there will be opportunities to lead on ratings in other countries in Asia
- Working as part of a wider team under the supervision of a Managing Director based in Europe
- Be offered considerable degree of responsibility and autonomy immediately
- In addition to writing and managing the production of credit rating reports, the candidate will travel and conduct long and in-depth meetings with rated subnationals
- Presentation of credits to a rating committee, liaise with the marketing function, deal with the press and investor queries and speak at conferences
- Preparation for and attendance at rating committees on subnationals from other geographic areas
- Contribution to internal discussions on rating issues and criteria
- Candidates should be well-rounded and dynamic and be comfortable with working remotely
The Successful Applicant
- Have Industry or Client experience within Public Sector ideally State Government
- Understand State Government from a Finance prospective including; budgeting, ratios and debt development
- The successful candidate could currently be working for the State Government in a Senior Finance Role, a Credit Analyst with a Bank / Rating Agency or a large Accountancy Firm
- The ability to work independently while also being a good team player
- Able to work well under pressure, different time zones and deadlines
- Happy to travel and adapt to a mixed-cultural environment
- A good educational background with a minimum of a good first degree
- Post-graduate academic qualifications with Public Sector/Economics bias are particularly welcomed
- Balance of good numeracy, analytical ability and skills in writing concise, fluent English
- Thorough understanding of the Australian/New Zealand capital markets, and the subnational sector in particular
- Previous experience either in analysis of ratings, sovereign and subnational debt research or counterparty (sovereign and sub-national) risk is attractive
