Director, International Tax Planning recruitment

Responsibilities
International Tax Planning (75%)
- Review the company's tax position to initiate, develop and implement transactions/ programs to reduce the company's worldwide tax liability, in conjunction with the Global Tax Director and in-country tax resources.
- Review proposed transactions and strategies, including treasury transactions, MA transactions, and transfer pricing initiatives, to determine their impact on US and worldwide tax positions.
- Develop, recommend and implement alternatives that minimize tax costs and maximize tax benefits resulting from the proposals.
- Identify and manage tax risks/exposures.
- Conduct tax research and prepare technical memos documenting tax strategies and authority for tax positions.
- Stay abreast of US tax laws regarding international operations of US corporations and analyze and communicate the impact of legislative proposals on Genworth companies.
- Provide timely, complete and accurate tax information to facilitate tax compliance and all financial reporting.
- Prepare financial models as required to analyze the cash and/or GAAP tax impact of strategies or changes in tax law.
- Contribute ideas and/or project leadership for automation/process improvements relating to international tax compliance and reporting.
- Interact with, and provide advice to, other tax department associates and in-country tax teams, as well as other global/ regional finance groups, regarding specific technical matters involving both US/ foreign taxes.

US Tax Compliance Reporting (25%)
- Advise on GAAP reporting standards for international operations
- Review/direct complex international portions of the US tax returns such as Gain Recognition Agreements and tax return disclosures.
- Participate in the defense of tax positions claimed on returns on exams by taxing authorities.
- Ensure filings in compliance with Genworth integrity standards.

Qualifications
- CPA or JD
- Masters Degree in Taxation
- 7 + years tax experience in the financial services industry or Big 4 Public Accounting with emphasis in US taxation of global operations.
- Experience in US GAAP and tax reporting for International operations of US companies.
- Strong oral and written communication skills; able to communicate with all levels of personnel.
- Ability to interpret and summarize technical standards and tax law
- Proven project management skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work well in culturally diverse environment
