Purpose of Role

This position will have responsibility for Coach’s International Transportation network. The position will support all of the organization requirements relating to the International Transportation of goods where Coach has the responsibility of the freight expense.

The position will report to the Divisional Vice President of Transportation and Trade Compliance (DVP) and will interact with various business units within Coach, as well as carrier representatives.

The successful individual will leverage their proficiency in Transportation Management to…

• Manage the negotiations for International Transportation agreements as they become due or the addition of new carriers, including ocean service contracts, air freight forwarding, consolidation and vendor management services, and drayage services for both imports to the US as well as exports.
• Implement new carrier routings that improves services or lowers costs.
• Develop RFP’s as needed.
• Review and approve international freight invoices for payment so they are paid correctly and timely.
• Manage a Global Visibility tool that provides shipment visibility and ETA updates to Coach business partners
• Assist Coach Asia, Coach Japan and Coach International on transportation services to 25 countries.
• Manage the budgeting process for the annual international transportation expense.
• Establish carrier routing guides for shipments where Coach is responsible for the Transportation expense.
• Develop and report carrier metrics, including time in transit, claims performance, and cost analytics.
• Monitor carrier claims until resolved.
• Provide shipment cost estimates to both internal and external customers.
• Manage staff in support of the department’s activities.

• BS degree with a major in Transportation / Logistics / Supply Chain Management; MBA preferred
• Ten years’ experience in international transportation, with an emphasis on importing in to the US
• Previous experience in US export and Intra Asia transportation preferred
• Previous experience with large retailer or Consumer Product Goods company preferred
• Strong analytical capabilities
• Managerial experience
• Must have extensive knowledge of negotiating international transportation rate agreements, both ocean carrier service contracts and air freight forwarding agreements.
