Director Inventory Control Job in New York 10003, New York US
Overview: Responsible for valuation, unit integrity and improvement to the physical and systemic control environment of the Company’s inventory in the Stores and Distribution Centers.
Responsibilities:
Inventory Control
· Oversee a staff of over 15, including team members located in our New York office and Distribution Centers
· Manage mid-year and year end physical inventories in our stores
· Provide oversight to our cycle counting program in our Distribution Centers
· Ensure accuracy of Moving Average Cost valuation of inventories
· Review inventory movement between DC locator system and multi location perpetual in SAP for accuracy
· Ensure accurate data capture of unit movement throughout the supply chain
· Perform timely and accurate monthly reconciliation of the perpetual to the general ledger
· Provide exception based reporting, as needed
· Provide oversight and review to certain inventory accounting activities such as transfers, claims, damages, shortage reserves, etc.

· Developing strong partnerships with Stores, IT, Store Operations, Supply Chain, Sales Audit, Loss Prevention, and Accounting teams
· Exceptional communication and analytical skills
· Ability and desire to evaluate, develop, and motivate team members
· Maturity and depth of experience to identify and manage business vs. control risks and channel vs. brand conflicts as they relate to the inventory process and controls
· Develop solutions and improvements to processes impacting the business, operational and financial accounting of the inventory cycle, including supporting our international expansion.
· Provide assistance to merchandise planning and allocation teams
Qualifications
· 4 year college degree, preferably in accounting or finance
· 12+ years experience in inventory, accounting, financial controls or related areas
· Inventory control transactional, process, system and management experience
· Participation on system implementation teams
· Strong Excel/Access and/or like software
Preferred experience includes:
· CPA/MBA
· Retail inventory control experience
· Hands on experience with SAP, Warehouse Management System or other integrated retail merchandise management systems
