Position Summary

    Under general direction of the Vice President of Product Management and Sales, the Director, Knowledge Management and Training role is responsible for directing the collection, organization and dissemination of knowledge about the company, its products, leadership techniques, and skills that enable associates to perform their jobs effectively to all associates of AmerisourceBergen Technology Group. Among the goals of this position is bridging the gap between the corporate organization and the companies and associates that comprise ABTG in terms of products and solutions offered. This role assesses training development needs, oversees development of training environments, materials, and certification programs, and utilizes resources within and outside the company to ensure that associates are trained in their areas of expertise and experience cross-training in areas that affect their job responsibilities. This role serves as a liaison between subject matter experts and associates to direct the delivery of knowledge in a way that meets adult learning needs for effective instruction and retention. This role will also determine the training needs of customers and oversees the creation and dissemination of knowledge for that audience. The Director, Knowledge Management and Training continually assesses training needs through needs assessment and follows learning and industry trends to ensure that the most current and accurate content is delivered via up-to-date methodologies and technologies.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Directs the creation of the AmerisourceBergen Technology Group training department including the design, planning, and implementation of the training methodologies, standards, programs, policies and procedures.
  2. Directs the design, planning, and implementation of an AmerisourceBergen Technology Group training environment based on employee developmental needs, may include, but is not limited to, training labs and an on-line learning library.
  3. Bridges the knowledge gap of AmerisourceBergen Technology Group products/solutions between the ABTG Sales Team; includes the responsibility of the development and execution of on-going training programs.
  4. Manages the AmerisourceBergen Technology Group training organization, including the conducting of research to design, develop and implement new trends in training and development technologies.
  5. Develops, administers and evaluates training program certification tests for all new hires and on-going certification, including result tracking for improvement or growth opportunities.
  6. Participates in the development of annual departmental budgets and objectives with Executive Management.
  7. Directs and develops the train-the-trainer programs; responsible for training key individuals/departments within the AmerisourceBergen Technology Group to train their respective teams when necessary.
  8. Uses results of the needs assessment survey to plan, organize and conduct training programs, seminars and conferences.
  9. Routinely evaluates the training organization and its processes for overall effectiveness; analyzes data, recognizes trends, conducts benefit analysis, and makes recommendations to drive achievement toward the company's overall mission, vision and goals.
  10. Interacts with key stakeholders at the executive level within the Drug Company and the Solutions Group to identify training needs across the organization.
  11. Directs the creation of all training material such as CDs, web-based training, videos, CBTs, and printed curriculum.
  12. Works with subject matter experts to direct content development; works with training staff and writers to direct methodology and delivery.
  13. Directs, trains, motivates, and evaluates associates in the Training Organization; continually looks for ways to improve the overall training process, and procedures; maximizes communication.
  14. Provides leadership and direction to the AmerisourceBergen Technology Group management team on prioritization of training.
  15. Provides reports and updates to Executive Management as required regarding activities, cost and performance.
  16. Supports a positive and professional image that supports both the parent company and AmerisourceBergen Technology Group mission statements; encourages a spirit of teamwork throughout the organization.
  17. Communicates training offerings regularly company-wide to ensure ample and equal opportunity for all associates to participate and benefit.
Experience and Education Requirements

    Normally requires broad training in fields such as business administration, accountancy, sales, marketing, computer sciences or similar vocations generally obtained through completion of a four year bachelor's degree program. Normally requires a minimum of eight (8) to ten (10) years progressively responsible related experience, including at least two (3) years experience at a managerial level. Normally requires a professional license or certificate in specialized field: (list desired and/or required certifications, etc); MA/MBA preferred.

  13. Ability to travel up to 50% of the time between all ABDC-SG locations.
