Director level Credit Valuations Methodology Controller recruitment

The main responsibilities across the Valuation Methodologies team are:

• Engineering of price testing methodologies for new products and on-going review of existing ones
• Review of methodology underlying reserves and provisions
• Assessment of model application , model calibration and review of associated valuation adjustments
• Model Governance policy and reporting
• Quality assurance – ensuring policies and methodologies are consistently applied across products and regions
• Ad-hoc technical assistance to the IPV and product control teams

The successful candidate’s objective is therefore to proactively and continuously challenge and advance valuation methodologies and processes, improve model governance and develop and implement new ways to capture and represent valuation uncertainty. In addition to its quantitative nature the position offers the opportunity to contribute to global initiatives within UBS and to interact with colleagues across various functions and locations. The role demands the following skills:
• Job requires a good balance between the practical hands on knowledge of Quantitative models from product valuation perspective and ability to assess quantify the uncertainties embedded in the product valuation.
• Assessment of the uncertainties in the valuation of the products and analysing the already existing reserves and adjustments or developing new methodologies to take appropriate reserves and adjustments.
• Assessment of the uncertainties in the valuation of the products which covers model calibration, input parameters, marking of parameters, underlying model dynamics, model risk, market data etc.
• Working in close collaboration with the IPV team, Front Office Quants, Finance Product Controllers, Model Validation Quants, Market Risk and Traders to address the valuation issues

The individual will be expected to build strong working relationships with all key areas within the organisation, including the trading desks, market risk, quantitative risk, trade support and business unit controllers. All valuation controllers are expected to be proactive, take ownership of issues and work in a dynamic and often unsupervised environment which requires the ability to work independently and within the group. Outgoing, confident personality, with exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to identify manage risks effectively.

M.Sc. in a quantitative discipline, such as finance, mathematics, physics, engineering or other related technical field is desirable but not a requirement.

The candidate should have working knowledge of complex products (derivatives), ideally from a valuations and IPV background or a technical product control role.
