Director, Market and Sales Development
ATMI is looking for a Market Sales Development Director with a proven track record of success in commercializing new business opportunities in the specialty adsorbent or catalyst industry. This is an outstanding opportunity to get in on the ground level of a cutting edge new business venture. While it is in the early stages, you will be working with a developed technology that has been commercialized in other areas. We also have in place operational support and infrastructure as well as funding. We are working in the groundbreaking area of advanced engineered nanoporous materials and have positioned these materials in the advanced separations and gas storage and delivery markets including applications in greenhouse gas sequestration, rare gas recovery and recycling and hydrocarbon purification.
The Market Sales Development Director will need to mirror our team with high energy as well as a dynamic, entrepreneurial style. In this role, you will be the leader for all commercialization efforts of the new advanced adsorbents and separations business. This provides you with an unrivaled ability to expand your influence and grow your career along with the business.
The position will be located in Danbury, CT and will report to the Senior Vice President, Materials Solutions.
- Market positioning of our products and business in the advanced separations area;
- Build commercial partnerships;
- Develop new business opportunity funnel by generating new customer engagements in target markets / segments, leading to commercial success;
- Generate and implement account strategies for new target markets / segments;
- Create / refine marketing and sales materials to address key customer needs and reflect ATMI branding and product positioning strategy;
- Build relationships with key technology development personnel at OEMs, customers and account teams that enable revenue growth;
- Engage customers, collect "voice of the customer" information regarding key needs and materials specifications and requirements;
- Refine competitive positioning and establish customer segmentation;
- Develop and execute go to market plans/commercialization strategies for new products including channel to market, partner alliances, product roadmaps, and sales strategies;
- Develop strong product cost of ownership models and business cases to gain approval of new projects;
- Collaborate with a wide variety of functional areas such as RD, Engineering, Finance, Sales, Manufacturing, Legal and Supply Chain to accomplish business objectives;
- Develop demand forecasts for products with documented key assumptions, risks and opportunities;
- Identify, create and present marketing materials including presentations, data sheets, promotional and training materials;
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 50%.
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in engineering or science discipline, MBA preferred;
- 5+ years technical marketing and sales experience in specialty materials; product management and/or market development experience preferred;
- Experience with small growth business or startup company with environmental or energy based products;
- Proven ability in leading cross-functional teams;
- Ability to effectively present technical and business information and respond to questions from external customers and internal groups;
- Experience with value selling techniques;
- Expertise in developing customer technology roadmaps and competitive information for business cases;
- Ability to develop and maintain multiple sales channels (direct distributor);
- Proven ability to develop and maintain collaborative partnerships with distributors and OEMs;
- Experience commercializing new products and/or services with external business partners.
