We are looking for a Director, Market Development reporting directly to the Managing Director, A.M. Best Asia Pacific to join our growing Hong Kong office.
Job purpose
This is a key leadership role accountable for building AM Best’s brand presence and awareness in diverse territories within the Asia Pacific region, growing year on year regional rating clients and product sales revenues.
Responsibilities
- To produce and implement an agreed annual market development plan that will enable the Company to deliver against its’ strategic growth plan
- To research, plan and execute targeted marketing campaigns, including road shows, market seminars, briefings and brand surveys
- To establish and develop a network of relationships across the Asia-Pacific region (re)insurance industry, building awareness and presence of the AM Best Brand and value of ratings products and services
- To successfully manage the on boarding of new clients, effectively communicating the ratings process, and negotiating and agreeing Rating Service Agreements in accordance with Company’s fee model
- To ensure the effective management of the Company’s CRM process and data base
- To develop and manage highly effective and responsive relationships with existing rating clients helping to ensure their long term commitment to A.M. Best
- To direct and manage a small team of professional staff ensuring that activities are coordinated and targeted in line with the commercial interests of the business
- To direct and manage the development of high quality, informed market briefings, research reports, and press comment, working collaboratively with various internal and external parties
- Developing network of relevant internal contacts within the US and UK offices
Skills/Experience requirements
- Extensive technical knowledge of the Asia-Pacific insurance and reinsurance markets
- A Minimum of 8 to 10 years’ experience in business/brand development or marketing within the insurance or reinsurance industry
- Well-established resource network within the insurance and reinsurance industry
- A level of professional credibility consistent with fostering relationships at chief executive and senior business leader levels in client, potential-client and third party businesses.
- An ability to construct and deliver high-quality presentations to a wide spectrum of audiences in settings ranging from one-to-one meetings to international conferences
- Demonstrable experience in market research and/or strategic planning
- Highly-developed interpersonal skills
- Ideally, with native language fluency in both English and one other Asian language (excellent written and spoken ability required).
- Excellent written communication skills, including report writing
- Ability to meet compliance requirements in a timely and effective manner
- Ability and desire to travel extensively
- Experience managing and developing a small team
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications: Word, Excel and Powerpoint
Education/ Qualifications
- Business or Marketing-related degree qualification is considered helpful
