Director, Marketing and Sales Job in Irvine 92614, California US

GENERAL PURPOSE  

The Director, Marketing Sales is responsible for both product marketing, planning and selling.  This includes managing the product through out the product lifecycle, gathering and prioritizing product and customer requirements, defining the product vision, and working closely with RD/ Technical Services to deliver successful product launches.  It also includes working with sales, marketing and support to ensure revenue and customer satisfaction goals are met.  The Director, Marketing Sales job also includes ensuring that the product and marketing efforts support the company's overall strategy and objectives.

 

 

Works under the general direction of the President

 

 

This position has 2-3 direct reports.  

 

 

MARKETING:

        ·         Work closely with our customers to articulate our direction and seek growth opportunities, implement product and pricing strategies and answer non-routine business and technical questions.

SALES:

·         Develops customer and ingredient presentations to target specific areas of interest. 

 

·         Responsible for driving the organization to achieve the PL objectives created for the ingredients business. 

 

·         Listens to and understands the customer; anticipates the customers needs and gives highest priority to customer satisfaction. ‘

 

·         Listens and responds quickly, accurately to customer needs; makes extra effort to follow-up; empathizes with customer problems or requests- takes responsibility for handling specific customer problems/demands

 

·         Monitors and analyzes ingredient sales progress vs. budget objectives.

 

·         Responsible for implementing product/pricing strategies and answering non-routine business and technical questions with customer base.

 

·         Visits customers with sales representatives in support of strategic business objectives, to satisfy and support the sales effort.

 

·         Reviews market analyses to determine customer needs, volume potential, price schedules, and discount rates, and develops sales campaigns to accommodate goals of company.

 

·         Ability to sell ideas within the organization to management and the sales.

 

·         Identify ongoing industry trends early on by visiting customer, following trade literature and attending conferences so as to best capitalize on market opportunities with the products and technology of the strategic business units.

 

·         Keeps informed of competitive market environment and competition to maximize industry-selling opportunities.

 

·         Works with business unit manager’s to create sales promotion campaigns and specific product incentive programs.

 

·         Monitors and analyzes sales promotion results to determine cost effectiveness of promotion campaign.

 

·         Schedules and plans tradeshows and other affiliated sales/customer events.

 

·         Keeps informed of competitive market environment and competition to maximize industry-selling opportunities. 

 

·         Analyzes and controls expenditures of division to conform to budgetary requirements.

 

·         Prepares periodic sales report showing sales volume and potential sales by territory.

 

·         Recommends or approves budget, expenditures, and appropriations for sales and development work.

 

 

 

 

·         Recommends product development and research projects.

 

·         Evaluates product portfolio to maximize revenue profitability and eliminate unprofitable items.

 

·         Represents Company at trade association meetings to promote product.

 

·         Directs research activities concerned with gathering information or with compilation of statistics pertinent to planning and execution of advertising sales promotion campaigns.

 

·         Authorizes information for publication such as interviews with reporters or articles describing phases of establishment activity.

 

 

Education and Experience:

 

·         College Degree, BA or BS in Life Sciences or Business preferred

·         MBA/Business School/business school analysis skills

·         5 – 10 years marketing/ sales management background

·         Interpersonal skills

·         Natural products/pharmaceutical commercial experience preferred

 

Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

 

·         Considerable knowledge of sales methods and procedures; considerable knowledge of advertising and marketing; working knowledge of general management.

·         Excellent interpersonal skills

·         Skill in the operation of listed tools and equipment;

·         Ability to plan, organize and direct sales persons; ability to develop and implement a sales campaign; ability to train and motivate staff; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other departments, vendors and the public; ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.

·         Natural products/dietary supplement ingredients background.

 

 

Valid State Driver's license or ability to obtain one.
