L-3 has a strong finance organization that is well respected (inside and outside L-3) and is critical to L-3's success. The L-3 finance mission is to support the CEO, Group Presidents and Division Presidents in executing L-3's strategy and increasing shareholder value, while maintaining strong internal controls over financial reporting and the highest ethical standards.
Responsibilities
- Overall responsibility is to maintain, amend and revise L-3's Corporate Accounting Policies and consolidated Internal Controls over Financial Reporting (ICFR) framework.
- Monitor, evaluate and report the impact of all recent Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB), SEC, International Standards Board (ISB) and Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB) pronouncements, guidelines and rulings on L-3's financial statements and Corporate Accounting Policies.
- Implement new FASB, ISB and SEC standards, as applicable.
- Evaluate and conclude on the accounting and financial reporting requirements and impact of current and potential business transactions (Corporate and Business Units).
- Manage L-3's internal controls over financial reporting compliance plan, including the preparation of an annual risk-based evaluation plan, review of business unit and corporate process documentation, preparation and implementation of test plans, and quarterly evaluation of internal control effectiveness.
- Prepare ICFR compliance plan status reports to the Audit Committee.
- Develop and monitor ICFR remediation action plans.
- Coordinate PricewaterhouseCoopers attestation procedures regarding L-3's ICFR evaluation, including exceptions/deficiencies identified.
- Integrate acquired businesses into L-3's: (1) accounting and financial reporting practices and procedures, and (2) internal controls over financial reporting.
- Interface with Corporate Finance, Business Unit financial management, Accounting and Internal Control Review Group and internal audit on accounting, financial reporting and internal control activities.
- Oversee and manage L-3's international statutory reporting and related external audit requirements.
- Support annual and quarterly SEC regulatory filings by preparing: (1) the summary of significant accounting policies, new accounting standards implemented and critical accounting policies disclosures, and (2) Management's Report on Internal Controls over financial reporting and conclusion of effectiveness of disclosure controls and procedures. Perform a high level review of Form 10K and Q filings.
- Support PricewaterhouseCoopers audit procedures as applicable.
- Ad hoc special projects as required.

- Bachelors or masters degree in accounting required and 10+ years total experience in a big four CPA firm or mix of big four CPA firm (minimum 7 years) and private company experience required.
- Report directly to the Assistant Controller responsible for financial reporting with significant interaction with the Vice President, Controller and Principal Accounting Officer, and Business Unit financial management.
- Willingness to travel at least 10%
