We are a company of entrepreneurs who work together and with other team members around the world having fun providing a menu of services to a small number of privately-held client companies in such industries as real estate, hotel management, and e-commerce.
Job Description
Our ongoing projects range from data analysis and accounting to software development and marketing. In all cases, our background in technology has resulted in a growing demand for high-level software development expertise paired with other essential skill sets (in this case, marketing and firearm related editorial skills). In short, we have a lot of fun doing what we do but we are very focused on achieving a very high standard of performance throughout our organization. We are constantly growing and learning and challenging each other to improve.
The role to be filled will require a unique blend of software programming, online marketing expertise, and extensive knowledge of the firearm industry. A more specific outline of qualifications in each sphere of expertise is provided below.
General Qualifications:

- Proficiency in use of spreadsheet applications
- Willingness to locate to Knoxville, Tennessee or immediate surrounding area

- Solid English communication skills, both verbal and written
Software/Technical Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in a computer science/computer engineering or business related field
- 2+ years experience with web development:
- Understanding of HTTP protocol, DNS
- HTML, CSS and Javascript: clean and standards compliant, knowledge of cross-browser issues, security vulnerabilities, DOM, Ajax
- Basic LAMP: Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP
- Writing object-oriented PHP code using common design patterns
- 2+ years experience integrating with third-party APIs: Facebook, Twitter, Quickbooks, Amazon Web Services, Twilio, general XML/JSON (REST, SOAP, XMLRPC), etc
- At least some experience with website optimization software such as Google Website Optimizer or Visual Website Optimizer
· Some experience applying data-mining algorithms to real-world scenarios
· Proficiency in statistical analysis and reporting
Editorial Qualifications:
- At least five (5) years of experience in owning and using firearms
- Familiarity with shooting industry and major shooting industry publications on the internet
- Experience using/participating in social media to include Facebook, Twitter, and blogs of any kind
- Ability to write articles that include technical references to firearms and the use thereof
- 2+ years experience in use of WordPress
- Willingness to travel within the United State and abroad for content research
Given the variety of projects that will be undertaken, there are many bonus skill sets that are preferred though not required. In your application for this position, please note all of the bonus skills that you possess and any others that you believe are applicable that may not be listed.
Bonus Software/Technical Skills:
- Extensive PHP experience: 3+ years. Especially Magento, Zend Framework, any other MVC frameworks
- Extensive MySQL experience: 3+ years. Strong understanding of correct usage of indexes, complex queries, transactions, performance tuning and scalability
- Advanced Javascript skills, HTML5, CSS3
- Version Control Systems: Git, Subversion
- Linux server administration: Apache, Nginx, MySQL, etc.: package installation, maintenance, security, performance tuning, monitoring, scaling
- Non-relational databases: MongoDb, ElasticSearch/Lucene, etc..
- Scripting and systems programming: Bash, Python, Perl, Ruby
- Deployment tools such as Chef, Puppet, Phing, Ant, cloud-computing
- Experience developing on other platforms: Java, .NET, Mobile devices
- Email administration: exim/postfix, email security, spam filtering, etc
- Experience contributing to open-source projects: Understanding of licenses, collaboration, unit testing, etc
- Military or law enforcement background
Compensation
Because this position requires someone who thinks and performs as a high-level manager, the compensation is structured such that a base salary provides for stable income supplemented by generous profit-sharing. Both salary and profit-share will depend on applicant’s experience and performance.
- Salary – $40,000 to $60,000 (USD)
- Profit Share (in addition to salary) – Available after 6 months based on company net profit
Skills Test
