Director of Credit and Collections (USA) Job in Irvine 92602, California US
- Consult with the senior management on major credit and collection decisions understanding the credit function’s role as an advisor to senior management and a gatekeeper of collective decisions.
- Assess prospective and existing customers’ credit and financial information to suggest new and maintain existing credit limits and provide timely decisions.
- Utilize credit securities (guarantees, liens, UCC filings, collateral, credit insurance, tax incentives, letters of credit, performance bond, etc), to mitigate risk, as required.
- Execute orders to hold or release pending orders in line with approved credit limits.
- Drive collections and identify root causes of delinquent and near-delinquent trade receivable accounts. Communicate root causes to responsible parties.
- Analyze the accounts receivable portfolio and perform risk analysis including recommendations for potentially delinquent accounts.
- Assess quarterly Credit and Collections’ KPIs.
- Provide timely responses to internal and external customers.
- Demonstrated Financial Analysis skills.
- Understanding of risk management tools and concepts.
- Ability to negotiate effectively with customers while maintaining professionalism and customer satisfaction.
- Ability to make logical, defendable recommendations and decisions with imperfect information.
- Ability to prioritize own and others’ workloads to meet timelines and service level requirements.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, comfortable delivering presentations and collaborating with senior management.
- Knowledge of freight-forwarding industry and related trading terms helpful.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or business or a related field.
- 10+ years of credit and collections and related work experiences, including credit assessment, utilizing credit security instruments, working and monitoring delinquent accounts, etc.
- Previous people mentoring, motivating, and managing experience.
- Self-managing and pro-active; ability to balance multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail.
- Qualified applicants (internal and external) must currently possess legal authorization to work in the United States.
