Director of Energy Risk recruitment

The duties and responsibilities for this role include the following:

The main focus will be the day to day risk management duties for Energy, including mathematical analysis and maintenance of parameters used in risk collateral models, frequent verbal communication with represenatives from member banks, risk report generation, written risk analysis reports including presentation to internal board level committees and interpretation and execution of risk mitigation actions. The position will also involve working within a team within the energy markets and the succeful candidate will be an enegery product specialist with considerable knowledge and experience of how these markets function. They will also be be comfortable and skilled in managing and motivating a specialist tem. Some of the duties will include; mathematical analysis of time series related to risk models and development of advanced models in order to calculate the margin levels required for clearing. A very good knowledge of Microsoft Access or SQL is required as information is kept in large databases.

It is essential that the successful candidate will have Quantitative post graduate degree in maths related subject - it would be desirable to have a PhD in quantitative finance.

It is essential for the the successful candiate to have the following;

Energy product specialist within a clearing house, bank or hedge fund.

Working experience with SPAN historical simulations.

Experience in managinf people/leading teams.

Must have a minimum of 1 years experience working at senior (Director) level.

And also solid knowledge of statistics, particularly time series analysis.

It is desirable to have experience trading energy derivatives.

The work skills that are essential for this role include the following:

IT skills in Access/Excel – advanced level. Experience communicating risk issues to senior management, including presentations at senior (Board) level. Good communicator; written English needs to be to a standard for report writing. Ability to explain complex things in a simple way. Ability to demonstrate flexibility in approach. It would be advantageous to have VBA AND SQL experience, Oracle experience, MATLAB experience, and C++ programming experience
