Director of Engineering - Web - Applications - Java - .NET - LAMP - RDBMS - Growing Media Company
We're a media company in Los Angeles, CA with scores of talented and capable software engineers; however, we're in need of a forward-thinking, tech-savvy general to organize and lead the group. Under direction of our new Director of Engineering, our engineers will develop truly envy-inducing products that will continue to entrench us as one of the most innovative media companies in the game. The qualifications:
- 5+ years managing a team of software engineers, handling multiple concurrent projects, developing total solutions and interacting with other key business functions
- Experience working with open source technologies such as Hibernate and .Net
- In-depth knowledge of Agile software development, testing and support practices
- In-depth technical knowledge of web application development in Java, Relational Databases, LAMP, .Net, Distributed Computing Architectures, and Web Services.
The job:
- Establish and carry out technical strategy that is congruent with The Company’s business strategy
- Work with and support the Product Management team to determine and define product direction and appropriate responses to customer needs
- Represent the software development function in interaction with external parties including vendors and customers
- Collaborate with other departments to initiate product development projects, establish project priorities, schedules, budget parameters, and integrate technical solutions
- Direct multiple software development disciplines toward the on-time/within budget completion of complex software development projects, ensuring timely delivery of high quality products
- Develop and maintain technical competence of the development staff in key areas of strategic importance
- Develop and implement departmental planned short and long term goals and objectives
- Recommend project budgets, schedules and conformance standards for new product development
- Handle administrative details, including preparing budgets, workload planning and status reports, instructing staff on policies/procedures; responsible for managerial functions including hiring, performance management, training, etc.
- Conduct employee reviews and annual performance evaluations
