Description:
The Director of Engineering will be responsible for tactical alignment of the strategy related to directing and the managing of technical issues and initiatives such as Engineering and Manufacturing Process Improvements across multiple facilities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following:
-Direct the company wide product and manufacturing engineering teams as well as collaborate with the piers on options for tactical execution of the strategy.
-Direct and manage progress and adjust within pre-set parameters and policies, and report on status.
-Prepare, present and implement operational Best Practices across the production facilities.
-Ensure activities meet and integrate with the organizational requirements for Quality Management System and of quality assurance program to positively impact the performance of the company.
-Create production standards and minimums, including a continuous measurement (allowing for recording ease by the operators) and improvement in the production flow, productivity and quality.
-Direct and manage aforementioned departmental staff, as well as mentor and provide tools to other technical staff placed throughout the organization.
-Create and implement a process for technical improvement suggestion for personnel including vehicles like Lean Kaizen events.
-Provide cost estimating to the Sales and Business Development group, and technical support across all functions.
-Research and analyze data (customer design proposals, specifications, and manuals) to verify capability of design or application.
-Through the manufacturing engineering "Centers of Excellence" leaders…drive continuous improvement and research emerging technologies of relevance to the company's future.
-Maintain a standing forecast of CAPEX requirements and projects by category (growth, productivity, replacement, etc.) to enable effective strategic planning and execution.
-Work in conjunction with sales and business development functions in researching diversification opportunities for the purpose of developing business cases, and ultimately implementing approved opportunities.
-Extensive verbal and written communication with customers, both internal and external to achieve departmental objectives. This includes but is not limited to weekly Senior Management Meetings, Monthly Business Reviews, and appropriate KPI's for continuous monitoring and display to all appropriate associates.
-Must have the ability to work on multiple tasks effectively.
-Prepare detailed forecasts and budgets according to company guidelines.
Requirements:
QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
-MS/BS in the Engineering/Management field, equivalent education and or experience in the application of sound business practices; PL, capital investment, etc.
-A minimum of 10 years progressive industry work experience.
-A proven track record in successfully managing the engineering and implementing of multiple products, facilities and personnel.
-General knowledge of modern office practices and procedures.
-Possesses and applies a positive, creative, result oriented and team approach to challenges (internal and external).
-A track record of accountability…both for results achieved as an individual contributor and those achieved thru the efforts of direct reports and peer organizations.
-Participates actively in growing the company according to Vision, Mission and Value Statements, respectively.
-Experience in a company with a quality ISO environment and standards.
