Director of Engineering (Network)

 

Direct the world-wide Engineering and Program Management organizations in the development of LAN (Local Area Network), RF (Radio Frequency) Filters, High-Speed Connectors and Telecommunications components for the electronics industry.  Teams consist of electrical, mechanical, process, test, automation and manufacturing engineering.  Products are passive electronic components utilized in networking, computing, and telecommunications systems. Directly responsible for teams consisting of one U.S. Design Center one Taiwan Design Center and one China Design Center employing over 50 people.  Successfully develop and release ~200 products per year with an annual expense budget of over $8M.

 

                                                                                                                                                                                   

 

EDUCATION:  Bachelors of Science in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Masters Degree preferred.

 

EXPERIENCE:  Minimum of 2 years managing a multi-disciplinary engineering team.  Prefer 5+ years managing a multi-disciplinary international engineering team.

 

KNOWLEDGE: Must possess working knowledge of both electronics packaging technology and RF fundamentals.   Basic understanding of business skills, marketing and product development.

 

SKILLS:  Must have demonstrable track record of innovation and personal contribution to product research and development.  Must have strong grasp of both theoretical and applied principles in mechanical and electrical engineering.  Must have demonstrable skills in the ability to motivate and lead a successful engineering team through research and development and into a successful product launch.

 

 

INTERNAL:   Integral member of the Senior Management team within the division consisting of the General Manager, Director of Marketing and Director of Quality.  Will also interface with Corporate Management including the Vice Presidents of other divisions, the C.E.O., the President and the Board of Directors. Must forge close relationship with the operations and the associated manufacturing teams.

 

EXTERNAL:  Direct interface with customers, vendors, consultants, suppliers, etc.

·         Optimize the performance and productivity of a worldwide multi-disciplinary engineering team while maintaining expenditures within a fixed budget.

·         The ability to foresee technology needs and employ limited resources in time to address those needs in the market.

·         The ability to meet fixed development schedules and product cost requirements while remaining flexible to adapt to rapidly changing needs in the market.

·         The ability to work at multiple levels presenting investment opportunities to the Board of Directors on one hand, and providing valuable contribution to particular product development needs on the other.

·         The ability to mentor and foster the development of a multi-disciplinary engineering team and ensure the needs of all team members are addressed.

·         Remain abreast of developing technologies in the electronics and electronics packaging market and judiciously employ them in the development of state-of-the-art electronics components.
