DIRECTOR OF FINANCE
Our Richmond client is offeringa newly created Director of Finance role. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual who is looking to join a growing and dynamic accounting team. As the Director of Finance you will need to have keen ability to coach and mentor staffwith a strong focus on building effective, cohesive accounting teams. You will report to the CFO and work as a team with other senior finance team members to collaborate on building efficiencies behind operational processes and financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Management and Oversight
- Manage a team of 7 individuals responsible for day to day accounting operations including accounts receivable, accounts payable, inventory, revenue recognition, multi-currency financial statement consolidation, balance sheet review, payroll, Canadian and US sales tax, and records retention;
- Review and present monthly, quarterly and annual financial operating reports to Divisional Presidents and provide explanations for variance analysis;
- Provide assistance to the Director of External Reporting during quarter-end reviews, annual audits and for completion of regulatory tax filings and statutory filings in foreign jurisdictions; and
- Provide operational insight to the Financial Planning and Analysis Lead in performing the annual financial planning process and throughout quarterly forecasting exercises.
Corporate and Financial Planning
- Identify, propose and execute on changes to financial and operational processes to drive efficiencies while concurrently satisfying C-SOX requirements;
- Develop and implement finance plans and strategies that establishes goals, identifies key issues and sets tangible actions plans for the Financial Services Group; and
- Develop monitoring and reporting procedures to track progress of Financial Services Group initiatives and communicate progress to key stakeholders such as Divisional Presidents and the CFO.
Team Development/Leadership
- Develop, mentor, and coach team members with a career planning focus allowing for cross training opportunities, vacation backfill support, and succession planning;
- Advise on the development, documentation and implementation of continuous improvements to finance and accounting policies, procedures, processes and systems;
- Promote and encourage a culture of high performance and continuous improvement that values learning and a commitment to quality;
- Establish and monitor staff performance and development goals, assigns accountabilities, sets objectives, establishes priorities, and supports the CFO and Financial Services Group in conducting annual performance appraisals and salary adjustments; and
- Instil a sense of financial accountability among team members by modeling responsible financial oversight.
Other
- Undertakes other projects and tasks as assigned by the CFO or as collaboratively agreed within the Financial Services Group.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- 8 + years accounting experience (5+ years post designation).
- Sound knowledge of accounting systems and accounting control processes. Previous experience in technology based industries and/or in publicly held companies is an asset.
- Solid and effective analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Expert Excel and PowerPoint.
- Excellent prioritization and time management skills and proven ability to balance and deliver on conflicting deliverables within a time sensitive and dynamic environment.
- Outstanding leadership and change management skills promoting positive relationships with all levels of management and operations.
- Superior organizational and management skills, including attention to detail while able to operate with the big picture in mind and apply flexibility where appropriate on project management.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Salary range: 130,000± plus bonus
