Responsibilities:
- Supervising day-to-day operations of the finance department including the following functions: financial reporting, grants management, treasury/cash management, accounts payable, payroll, audit taxes.
- Manage monthly financial closing process including financial reporting.
- Responsible for maintaining integrity of general ledgers and supporting documentation.
- Reviews and interprets monthly results developing variance analysis reports.
- Works in collaboration with grants manager regarding the fiscal administration of assigned local, state, and federal grants. Monitors compliance with fiscal guidelines for grant programs, ensuring federal and state regulations and are strictly followed in the financial documentation and reporting of all funds.
- Review and interpret current state and federal legislation, regulations, policies, circulars, bulletins, memoranda and policies relating to funding received.
- Main point of contact with federal and state agencies for financial issues.
- Responsible for daily, monthly, annual cash management.
- Analyzes data, extracts information, and manipulates information in the preparation of complex financial reports and schedules.
- Actively involved in the development and revision of internal fiscal policy and procedures and in the planning, design and implementation of accounting systems.
- Manages fiscal year-end audit including A-133 audit Form 990 -- preparation of work papers, financial statements footnotes.
- Communicates with public and private accountants; state, federal, and independent auditors; and program or management personnel as needed.
- Assigns and supervises work of subordinate accounting personnel.
- Participate in special projects; perform other duties as needed
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s Degree in related field preferred
- A minimum of seven years of professional level experience in accounting or financial auditing
- At least three years of direct management experience preferred
- CPA (strongly preferred)
- Experience with financial software conversions
- Fund accounting experience
- Familiarity with payroll
