This is a key role in the school at an exciting stage of its development. We are looking for a skilled, dynamic and rigorous Director of Finance and Resources to join the Leadership Team of this successful 11-19 selective boys’ academy school.
The academy employs 150 teaching and support staff and has an annual budget of more than £5 million. There are 1016 students on roll including almost 300 in the sixth form.
The Director of Finance and Resources will develop a dynamic team to provide a full range of high quality non-teaching functions across the school. The successful candidate will lead on resource management and planning, in order to shape the future of the academy as it goes through consolidation as an academy school and establishes its own management systems and procedures.
The Director of Finance and Resources will provide leadership in the following areas:
- Finance, including financial management, budgeting, planning, ledger and credit control, payroll and pension, monitoring and procurement, compliance with all accounting procedures, laws and regulations, preparation of statutory and management accounts
- Administration including the role of Company Secretary and leadership of the administrative team
- HR and staff development, in liaison with the Head Master
- Management of the school’s support staff.
- Capital project management, site facilities management and upkeep, including environmental and energy management.
The successful candidate will ideally:
- have proven experience of successful financial, personnel and project management in a UK secondary school or equivalent environment
- possess core financial management and accounting skills
- have knowledge of site and facilities management
- possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
This is a full-time post (52 weeks and 28 days paid annual leave plus public holidays) and requires flexibility. Visits to the school are warmly welcomed prior to making an application.
