Director of Global Institutional Business Finance
The Business Finance organization plays a critical role as trusted business partner to the business units, supporting all analysis, reporting and planning needs of the business. We produce budgets, short and long range forecasts; create and analyze business metrics and identify cost savings opportunities; deliver economic insight into the relationships between costs and revenues to improve the financial success of the business going forward.
Job Purpose/Background:
The Client Business Finance team directly supports the client facing sales and service organization at BlackRock. The role we are hiring for is Director of the Institutional Client Business (ICB) Finance team. This position reports to head of the ICB BlackRock Solutions Finance Team.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead monthly forecast and annual planning / budgeting process
- Revenue (NNB, NNR, run rate base fees, other material revenue streams). Understand key revenue drivers (e.g., product mix, regional mix) and work with business management to optimize organic growth initiatives
- Expense (Controllable, Direct Fund, Other). Actively manage the budget based on changing market conditions.
- Annual Operating Plan and quarterly refreshes
- Be a thought partner along with the ICB and BRS finance lead to analyze new investment opportunities and ideas for efficiencies
Coordination of monthly / quarterly business reviews
- Work with channel finance leads and business COOs to streamline existing and define new content, including key business drivers, metrics
- Drive automation of standard financial information embedded in business reviews
- Continuously look for ways to enhance reporting with forwarding looking and insightful information
Coordination of weekly / monthly OpCo reporting and quarterly earnings support
- Work with channel finance leads and ICB COO to deliver OpCo reporting in an accelerated and automated fashion
- Proactively partner with Institutional Exec to summarize key themes and messages for CFO/Head of Investor Relations/Head of Distribution for quarterly earnings
Drive progress on moving "routine" FPA activities to India FPA team
- Ensure that every channel finance team has a reasonable project plan
- Monitor progress against project plan to stay on track

Development Value:
This role reports directly to the Managing Director (team lead) of ICB and BRS Business Finance, and requires significant interaction with business partners; these include the COOs and senior management within the Institutional Business. The role also requires significant interaction with Finance colleagues across BlackRock globally.
Knowledge/Experience:
- Extensive experience in an FPA capacity (budgeting, planning, reporting, analytics, etc) preferably in asset management or the broader financial services industry.
- Experience acting as a successful finance business partner
- Significant management experience
Skills/Qualifications:
- Advanced Excel, PowerPoint and multi-dimensional analytical tool skills.
- Proficiency with Essbase/Hyperion a plus
- Strong academics. BS/BA, MBA Preferred.

- Ability to develop a deep understanding of the Institutional business and its key drivers
- Ability to prioritize and deliver in fast paced environment with tight deadlines and multiple demands
- Excellent communication (both oral and written) skills
- Ability to develop executive level presentations
- Capable of working effectively at all levels of an organization and building strong relationships with team members, managers, and senior executives in multiple locations
- Proven ability to advance in organizations
- Strong financial acumen and ability to think quickly.
