Director of Healthcare Administration
The DHCA supervises all aspects of the healthcare portion of the campus including the management of the healthcare staff as well as the coordination of the medical director, therapy services, dietician, the pharmacy, prime vendors and other outside contractors and partners for the healthcare services. This position oversees all nursing aspects, healthcare programs, rehabilitation programs and assists with marketing agendas within the community. The DHCA will oversee the delivery of person centered care based on the needs and interests of the residents while preserving their dignity and quality of life. The DHCA oversees and provides support for the activities of daily living; including but are not limited to dining, housekeeping, and life enrichment, which are a part of the residents daily choices. The DHCA is part of the care plan team and oversees implementation and evaluation of resident assessments and individualized care plans using the web-based programs Vigilan and/or Keane. The DHCA will oversee the compliance of documentation for residents in their neighborhoods, assignment of residents to nursing assistants as needed and assists in the medication management and overall healthcare programs for the residents in a neighborhood. The DHCA operates healthcare services to be compliant with federal, state and local regulations. The DHCA coordinates and works with community agencies, physicians, families, residents, consultants, ancillary service providers and other departments within the community under the guidance of the Executive Director.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Represents the community in a positive manner while creating an environment that fosters respect and courtesy for residents and employees alike. Works within the communitys programs and neighborhoods to promote safety and the well-being of all residents and employees.
2. Upholds the communitys Mission Statement.
3. Maintains HIPAA standards and regards all healthcare and personal information pertaining to residents and employees as confidential.
4. Oversees the completion of resident files to include all admission documents, care plans, records of care, and any other documents required by state and/or federal regulatory agencies, including producing required assessments, when applicable. As appropriate, utilizes the specified programs and technology.
5. Oversees the coordination of resident admissions, transfers and discharges with department supervisors and appropriate interdepartmental personnel. Quality assures the use of specified programs as it pertains to all record keeping.
6. Meets with prospective residents and their families. Evaluates prospective residents, explains the campuss programs and services and process final admission document or reviews work of designee.
7. Meets with hospital discharge planners, physicians groups, medical associations, and other groups for the consistent promotion of the campus.
8. Serves on the care plan team and oversees the compliance of the development of individualized resident care plans based on physicians recommendations and residents needs and interests while preserving their dignity and quality of life. The resident individualized care plans are to be completed in the first seven days and re-evaluated every 90 days or when there is a change of condition. All care plans and task lists to be completed in the specified programs.
9. Oversees the admission, data management, and insurance billing for all Part A Medicare and co-insurance claims.
10. Oversees all person centered care and initiates corrective action as necessary. Provides clear, concise and timely documentation for both resident and employee needs.
11. Arbitrates complaints and disputes concerning healthcare residents, families or personnel.
12. Leads daily stand up meeting with the DOAL and/or DON to communicate any changes or concerns of residents, families or staff.
13. Manage emergency situations and initiate lifesaving procedures.
14. Assures that each incident or unusual occurrence with a resident is documented properly following the guidelines set forth by the community and is compliant with all regulatory agencies.
15. Oversees that the procurement, storage, and assisting or administration of residents medications are compliant with community policies and procedures and state and federal guidelines. Interfaces with the institutional pharmacy for management of medication programs.
16. Manages the resident supply and medical equipment procurement, inventory, storage, and billing utilizing the designated technology.
17. Makes rounds in neighborhood/s and surroundings to oversee residents well being and assure that any issues or unusual occurrences with a resident is documented properly following policies and procedures and regulatory guidelines.
18. Oversees the management and supervision of employment, performance evaluation, promotion, termination, scheduling and payroll of direct care staff and nursing staff.
19. Conducts staff meetings and implements work related education for staff including but not limited to safety, evacuation procedures, certification programs, resident rights, etc.
20. Assists in the coordination of the dietary and nutritional needs of the resident to the CDM and dietary staff. Oversees the daily work of the CDM.
21. Coordinates with Member Services the activities and transportation for the residents.
22. Ensures that all direct care staff and/or CNAs have any state licenses or certifications that may be required and all nurses have a valid and current license as required by state and federal regulations.
23. Oversees the operation of the community healthcare services to be compliant with federal, state and local regulations and act as a liaison between the community and regulatory agencies.
24. Reviews the objectives of the healthcare department and ensures that they are understood and practiced by all healthcare personnel to be compliant with person centered care while preserving the residents dignity and quality of life.
25. Attends department supervisor meetings. Operates the department with the specified budgetary guidelines while giving input into the development of the annual budget.
26. Follows policies and procedures for communicating and interacting with residents families and guests.
27. Identifies safety hazards in the workplace and reports to appropriate personnel and works as part of the risk management team that oversees safety hazards in the workplace.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Respond to medical emergencies for independent members as trained.
2. Occasional travel may be required for training sessions, continuing education opportunities, emergency situations, and other company functions.
3. Responsible for knowledge of fire and elopement procedures and state and OSHA mandated procedures.
4. Participates in professional improvement workshops, seminars and meetings which allow continued education on current affairs in retirement community management and latest health care related technologies.
5. Completes company assigned monthly training sessions via the Silverchair website.
6. Serves in the on-call rotation, both on a regular rotating basis and in emergency situations.
7. Works on the floor in emergency or staff shortage situations.
8. Attends all Quality Assurance meetings.
9. Remains in proper attire at all times and maintains a high standard of appearance.
10. Performs other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.

PREREQUISITES:

A. Education
- Four year college or university degree required.
- Valid Nursing Home License
- Community Residential Care Facility license preferred
- RN or LPN designation desired.
- Certified in CPR, First Aid, and AED
B. Direct Previous Experience
- Administrative and management experience required.
- Two years experience in a similar healthcare position required.
- Five years of healthcare experience desired.

C. Skills:
- Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) plus the willingness to learn other computer programs if required.
- Ability to work with minimal or no supervision.
- Must conduct all business with a professional manner and with a high level of confidentiality.
- Must have a valid drivers license.

D. Abilities:
- Work indoors for the majority of the work day (fluorescent lights, HVAC system, carpeted/vinyl flooring).
- Climb up to 2-3 flights of stairs occasionally.
- Lift objects of 25 pounds or less over the head.
- Move objects of 40 pounds or less.
- Ability to work in time-sensitive or stressful situations.
- Exposed to physical/verbal abuse by certain residents, employees, and/or guests under mental or physical impairment.
- Exposure to needles, infections, wounds, medical equipment, and the like.
- Sit in a chair / stand for extended periods.
- Respond to medical emergencies in all areas of the campus.
- Assist with resident evacuations.
