Director of Information Technology Job in Boston, Massachusetts Us

I. Scope of Position:

The Director of IT has responsibility for all IT activities and services, in support of the business strategies of the organization. The position provides IT leadership, directs the daily activities of IT, and collaborates with executives, general management to explore broad, technical/business applications and approaches that satisfy the operating needs of The Home and the requirements of external customers.

II. Responsibilities:
*Collaborates with senior leaders in the development, and directs the execution, of strategic and tactical plans for the application of information technology. Provides thought leadership in the area of technology innovation. Interfaces directly with external customers as needed to support all of the company's functional operations and to ensure contractual obligations are met. Manages the relationship with all IT vendors and partners.
*Provides leadership in proactive communication at multiple levels of the organization regarding information management/technology, advances in the field, and uses of information and telecommunication technology. Serves as an internal consultant regarding information and telecommunication system needs. Provides and solicits feedback from management and other staff regarding IT operations, directions and performance.
*Prepares annual operating and capital budgets consistent with the Strategic IT Plan. Provides project-planning leadership regarding the implementation of new applications in IT, including upgrades to existing systems. Prepares project budgets including costs, timing, and benefits; and audits completed projects for achievement of objectives and continuous quality improvement.
*Responsible for hiring, training, evaluating, mentoring and developing IT staff. Determines most effective and efficient strategies in deploying IT human resources.
*Develops and monitors compliance regarding IT policies and procedures as well as IT operating and service standards; fosters a widespread awareness of good computer ethics. Establishes process standards based on formal process frameworks such as COBIT.
*Responsible for overall direction, selection, conversion and routine management of IT products, systems and services. Provides leadership direction in the review of new software and hardware acquisitions. Develops consistent quality standards for vendors and manages vendor performance to ensure consistency with quality and contract standards.

*Oversees the planning and direction of functions associated with centralized computers and networks including computer operation, maintenance, upgrades, backup and recovery systems, operating systems, network cabling and routing, local and wide area networks, and external communications networks.
*Works closely with the organization and customers to ensure IT Risk Management is in alignment with the business strategy. Assures maximum computing and network security and availability.
*Establishes standards for computers, networking and telecommunications equipment and related items.
*Assures adequate training is available to the users of IT services.
*Facilitates continuous performance improvement by encouraging innovation, supporting reasonable risk-taking and being open to new ideas.

III. Education:
Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer information systems, or related field required. Masters degree in business or computer science preferred.
