Director of Materials and Device Applications Laboratory Job in Vancouver 98661, Washington US
Our client is seeking a Director to lead its Materials and Device Applications (MADA) Laboratory. The MADA Director will drive research strategy, lead innovation, and collaborate to define high value projects. The MADA Director will report directly to the President CEO and have responsibility for 35 technical staff. The group maintains a lab-scale semiconductor fabrication facility with a 3,000 square foot class 10-100 cleanroom, PECVD, PVD, and RIE cluster tools, lithography capability, multiple chemical synthesis and modeling systems, solution processing and printing, laser and thermal processing, and measurement and metrology capability.
The Director is expected to envision and create technology themes that both leverage and expand MADA capabilities, particularly in the areas of energy, health, new materials, optical systems, and device and display. He or she will also support efforts to build external commercial partnerships and create new businesses for their company within the U.S. The Director will lead interaction with their Corporation in Japan, understand current and future business needs, and secure funding from corporate labs and business groups in Japan. The Director will develop and execute RD programs in cross-disciplinary fashion, bringing the capability of MADA.
The Director will have a strong record of organizational leadership in a global RD environment. He or she will have a proven record in materials and device RD, preferably with deep understanding of one or more of the areas noted above. He or she will have demonstrated capability to conceive, plan, and evangelize new research and business programs in materials and device fields. Desirable attributes include successful experience transferring technology from research to business and managing budgets and project plans.
