DIRECTOR OF NURSING I

This position is responsible for assigned area(s) of responsibility with 24-hour accountability.  Also responsible for coordinating the efforts of staff with overall responsibility for the clinical and financial performance. 
 
This individual will often coordinate his/her work to meet the ever-changing needs of the department/hospital.  He/she has expressed authority to carry out the duties as defined in the job description. 
 
Day-to-day responsibilities require good use of judgment regarding timely and appropriate communication with the hospital staff.  Recognizes the need for teamwork and functions as part of a multi-disciplinary team.  Works under limited supervision. 

Prior ICU and ED Management Experience highly preferred.
·         BA/BS degree required, graduate degree preferred, masters degree in nursing, business or healthcare preferred. 
·         Current Illinois RN license, if applicable. 
·         Minimum 3 years experience in a hospital operations/leadership
·         National certification in specialty field preferred. 
·         Current Illinois RN license. 
·         Knowledge of appropriate regulatory agency standards to include but not limited to JCAHO, OSHA and IDPH. 
·         Ability to implement teaching/learning strategies and facilitate group dynamics. 
·         Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills required. 
·         Strong leadership, team development, business management, strong written and oral communication skills. 
·         Tact, positive business demeanor and the ability to establish and maintain rapport with physicians and hospital personnel. 
·         Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. 
·         Ability to use various instruments, machines, tools, equipment and work aids as necessary to perform job duties.
