Director of Pricing Strategy recruitment

The candidate should possess deep experience implementing software, maintenance, training, and/or consulting services pricing and packaging strategies in the software industry. In addition, the person filling this position should have strong analytical skills in order to make recommendations that are data driven and assess potential benefits/impact to PTC’s business strategy.

Primary focus will be on pricing software, maintenance and services products for the entire company across all lines of business. The position will have high visibility within the company and will interact with all departments including executive management.

Overview:

This role will be responsible for leading key elements of the Strategic Pricing Packaging function. This high profile position will be responsible for establishing the strategic direction for PTC in new pricing initiatives across service lines.

• Develop and implement pricing strategies based on economic and competitive dynamics
• Price products and services appropriately based on the value customers receive
• Support customer negotiations and work with sales teams to close customer deals
• Manage small, high-impact team
• Drive change into a large, distributed field organization

The Director, Strategic Pricing and Packaging will play a critical role in developing and rolling out world-class pricing practices across the company.

Responsibilities:

• Execute pricing and packaging strategies for all of PTC
• Establish data-driven best practices for pricing and packaging
• Develop business cases to support pricing decisions
• Manage cross-functional company pricing committees and pricing operations for all products and geographies
• Study marketplace to ensure winning pricing and packaging policies
• Implement pricing recommendations based on internal studies and outside audits
• Rationalize pricing models across product lines and newly acquired companies – e.g. CAD, PLM, dynamic publishing, etc.

Functional Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies:

• Demonstrated ability to develop and implement pricing strategies based on economic and competitive dynamics
o Ability to use financial analyses to develop recommendations
o Experience performing competitive analysis to understand market position
o Demonstrated ability to achieve buy-in with internal business partners
o Talent for driving rapid decision-making with imperfect data
• Demonstrated experience with implementing industry-based pricing models:
o Term
o Subscription/Utility/SaaS
o Perpetual
• Experience supporting customer negotiations
o Strong customer-facing negotiation skills
o Ability to develop pricing recommendations based on portfolio-level view of impact to strategy

Requirements:

• MBA degree
• Previous software industry experience
• Pricing and packaging responsibilities in previous roles
• 10-15 years work experience, including 5+ in pricing roles
• Strong analytical background

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelors degree

• 10 years of professional work experience

• 5 years of professional work experience in a pricing capacity
