Job Purpose:
Introduces new products by planning and conducting basic research and product development; directing staff.
Duties:
* Develops research and development organizational strategies by contributing information, analysis, and recommendations to strategic thinking and direction; establishing functional objectives in line with organizational objectives.
* Establishes research and development operational strategies by evaluating trends; establishing critical measurements; determining production, productivity, quality, and customer-service strategies; designing research and development systems; accumulating resources; resolving problems; implementing change.
* Develops research and development financial strategies by estimating, forecasting, and anticipating project requirements, trends, and variances; aligning monetary resources; developing action plans; measuring and analyzing results; initiating corrective actions; minimizing the impact of variances.
* Plans research and development projects by studying proposals; estimating possible applications of findings; calculating resources required and cost/benefit relationships.
* Organizes research and development projects by defining project purpose and scope; establishing standards and protocols; scheduling and allocating resources.
* Completes research and development projects by monitoring progress; evaluating milestone conclusions and assumptions; preparing results and conclusions; recommending management actions.
* Documents findings by developing information systems; preparing research reports.
* Maintains safe and healthy work environment by establishing and enforcing standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.
* Protects organization's value by developing and enforcing research and development confidentiality policies.
* Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
* Enhances research and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
