This expanding consumer products company specializes in developing unique  seasonal trend products that are designed, created and sold to the big box mass retailers such as Target, Wal-Mart, Kmart and others. The buyer will be sourcing and purchasing food, hardlines components and packaging from US and Asian manufacturers. This position will be dealing with documentation for international shipments and will work cross functionally with sales, finance, and marketing and be involved in the product development process. Director of Sourcing and Procurement

This company develops and sells seasonal products to the mass retail trade. The Director of Sourcing and Procurement will plan and execute company purchasing and procurement activities and ensure that the purchase of goods supports quality, cost, and service level standards.

Major Responsibilities:

·        Ensure the uninterrupted flow of production by providing on time delivery within specification of goods and services at the lowest practical price.

·        Purchase materials and services for the company’s use at the maximum end-use value per dollar spent.

·        Collect and store vendor’s third party audits and letter of guarantees to ensure compliance of Good Manufacturing Practices.

·        Serve as a team member of Safety Team

·        Resolve complaints on all purchased goods and services.

·        Develop and implement cost reduction strategies and track results.

·        Maintain current knowledge of commodity prices (coffee, cocoa, tea) and market conditions.

·        Negotiate and place purchase orders for purchasing a variety of products including food, imported products, office equipment, phone, etc.

·        Manage on time delivery from suppliers providing material forecasting to suppliers.

·        Maintain a vendor/supplier file/database.

·        Maintain a documented product traceability and recovery system that tracks products from production through distribution.

·        Monitor and expedite shipments from various locations to respective sites.

·        Audit and approve invoices.

·        Procurement and maintaining sample supplies for product development.

·        Communicate with various functions within the organization.

Position Requirements:

·        Bachelor’s degree

·        Minimum of 8 years of purchasing experience.

·        Demonstrated negotiating experience as well as an understanding of suppler capabilities and marketplace.

·        Strong knowledge of purchasing principles, practices, procedures, and contractual language.

·        Outstanding organization/prioritization skills to ensure that deadlines are met.

·        Excellent oral and written communication skills.

High level of computer literacy and ability to learn various types of software programs. Outstanding customer service skills
