Director of Syndications recruitment

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: The primary purpose of this position is to lead and manage the structuring of large and/or complex agri-business first lien loans, with terms and conditions that are marketable to other syndication or participation lenders. Incumbent negotiates terms and conditions with borrowers, investors, Credit team, and relationship managers on multi-lender transactions. Incumbent works with Relationship Managers to determine structure, price and bank group composition of loans to be sold by AgStar. Incumbent provides consultation and direction to AgStar relationship managers regarding structuring for transactions purchased, sold, or potentially sold in the future. Incumbent manages the syndication process from negotiation through closing, including the sell down of syndications and participations. Incumbent manages routine communications with bank groups. Directly manages all team members within the Syndications Desk including selecting, developing, motivating, evaluating and compensating team members.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: This position requires a bachelor’s degree in agricultural economics, finance, or business administration and five or more years of credit experience in a commercial and/or agricultural lending environment including a minimum of three years experience in loan syndication or related activities. A master’s degree in agriculture or business, or advanced certification in applicable disciplines, is preferred.

• Expert knowledge of complex lending, financial structuring and credit arrangements.
• Proven track record of marketing and sales results in capital markets or syndicated loan markets.
• Advanced negotiating skills.
• Strong financial and credit analysis skills, with proven abilities in assessing risk and rewards provided in diverse capital market loan transactions. • Proven track record of organizing work and exercising well reasoned judgment involving large and complex transactions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Advanced knowledge of agribusiness or other similar credit underwriting policies, procedures, processes, and documentation expectations.
• Maintain expertise in the loan syndication segment of the financial services industry, keeping abreast of industry trends, competitive market conditions and lending practices.
• Advanced knowledge of issues involving banking regulations, financial reporting requirements (GAAP and FASB), rating agency methodologies, and multi-lender credit facility documentation.
• Possess broad knowledge of various industries served.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
• Ability to effectively prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast paced, dynamic environment.
• Proficient in Windows environment using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Internet Explorer, as well as other business applications.
