Description: This is a confidential hire for a specialty pharmaceutical company located in the Med-Peninsula, Bay area, California.
The company currently has FDA approved products, with additional products in the late stage pipeline. They are in development of delivery technology, to optimize drug delivery.
This position reports to the Senior Director of Managed Care and Trade, will be responsible for the strategic focus and tactical approach with wholesaler and retail pharmacy clients.
Essential Functions:
- Ensure attainment of sales forecasts while identifying opportunities for product growth with assigned trade accounts
- Manage business partnerships with assigned trade accounts
- Develop business relationships with senior executives of assigned trade accounts to ensure attainment of company objectives.
- Oversee commercial trade account stocking levels and perform related financial analysis for assigned trade accounts
- Establish and raise awareness of the company and company products with clients, pharmacists and other target healthcare stakeholders
- Design and implement channel strategies and account specific business plans to maximize company sales and marketing objectives for trade accounts
- Lead the ongoing analysis, financial review, and negotiations for the Distributor Service Agreements [DSA’s], fee based agreements and other agreed upon terms impacting company business and proposed related strategies and tactics for trade accounts
- Proactively communicates with company field sales colleagues to resolve supply disruptions, product stocking/access, complaints, and questions in a timely manner
- Participates in major trade conferences [NACDS etc.] to monitor market place trends impacting the company and proposed related strategies and tactics for trade accounts
- Interacts with internal colleagues in Sales, Marketing, Finance, Legal, Compliance, Medical Affairs, Distribution, 3PL [ICS] to ensure compliance with all programs leading to enhanced sales results for assigned trade accounts
- Directs the ongoing notification to assigned accounts with respect to price changes, new product launches, etc.
Relevant Experience and Knowledge:
- 10 + years experience with trade accounts within the pharmaceutical industry
- Direct Responsibility for Account Sales with financial accountability
- Demonstrated, successful track record of supporting product launches with trade accounts
- Comprehensive knowledge of the legal, compliance, and business concepts and the resulting impact of pricing and other price considerations with trade accounts
- Established network of trade, wholesale and retail contacts
- Ability to balance internal company needs with external trade account customer needs that result in mutually beneficial collaborations
Education/Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Science or related areas – MBA or advanced degree preferred
- Solid negotiation skills, business acumen, and analytical ability
- Establishes and maintains cooperative and productive working relationships with coworkers
- Exceptional interpersonal and written communication/ presentation skills while providing accurate and timely information across all functional groups
- Uses a mixture of analysis, experience and judgment to make timely and effective decisions; evaluates results in order to improve future performance
- Financial and budget management skills
- Excellent account management skills, ability to maintain productive working relationships with all levels of assigned trade accounts
- Excellent working knowledge of Excel, Word, Outlook, Access and PowerPoint
- Ability to travel at least 50% of the time including overnight travel
