POSITION DESCRIPTION
Position Title: Director of Product Innovation
Department: Product Innovation
Reports To: President CEO
SUMMARY
Develop and implement a product strategy that is aligned with the overall concept strategy and the other supporting strategies (brand, financial, procurement, HR). Deliver the menu experience and product quality expected by Black Angus’ guests at a cost that enables casual dining menu prices. Structure and implement a product development process and consultant network that deliver innovative, successful and timely product options for menus, outserts and promotions. Partner closely with Procurement, Marketing, and Operations leadership. Assist Operations to achieve successful rollouts, consistent execution and cost targets. Support Procurement in the continuous review and improvement of all products and vendors. For new products, establish clear price targets and provide accurate plate cost estimates and price recommendations. Analyze and recommend menu and beverage pricing.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
· Minimum 5 years in senior product development role for chain restaurant concept.
· Prior experience with steak segment preferred.
· Strong computer skills (Excel, Word)
· Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
· Good knowledge of menu and recipe development, insight into marketing, cost and labor control.
· Ability to conduct meetings, menu briefings, and product tastings.
· Excellent team and relationship skills. Able to build understanding and consensus.
· Extensive industry-specific knowledge of culinary practices, methods, trends, and operations.
· Culinary training or certification required. College degree preferred
