Director, Rates

The Association for Financial Markets in Europe (AFME) is seeking a qualified and experienced candidate to serve in a full-time professional capacity as Director within the Rates Division.  This position offers the candidate an opportunity of working closely with both senior European policymakers and senior individuals at leading investment banks in the European sovereign debt markets, to help shape policy in probably the most challenging financial market environment in a generation.  It is an opportunity to work on the cutting edge of regulatory and market policy developments whilst keeping in close contact with the business.

The successful candidate will be responsible for building and maintaining  strong relationships with the AFME membership, relevant policymakers and other stakeholders in the European sovereign debt markets. They will monitor developments in regulation, policy and market structure that affect the sovereign debt markets, formulate industry-wide responses to these developments and represent the industry at meetings and industry events.

Essential requirements for this role are:

The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of the sovereign debt markets gained during working experience in trading, origination, syndication, research or other relevant fields. Previous experience of managing working groups and engaging in external meeting/conferences and an interest in European policymaking is essential.
