The Canadian Federation of Independent Business (CFIB) is a non-profit membership organization dedicated to the support of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Canada.  CFIB has a high profile in government, business and among the general public as the premier political voice for small business. Our finances are supported solely by more than 109,000 member business owners representing all regions and industry sectors.  CFIB relies on direct member contact and extensive surveying to gauge the impact of government policy and economic trends on the SME sector.

We currently have the following position available:

 

 

Director, Regional Affairs, Atlantic Canada

 

Reporting to the Vice President, Atlantic Canada and located in either our downtown Halifax or Moncton office, your role requires that you translate our members’ positions in our four Atlantic provinces into political actions.  The role consists of:

 

Policy and Research: You will develop political action plans based on analysis of member survey data to address public policy issues of concern to our membership.

 

Communications and External Relations: You will be a key spokesperson with the media, the public and government in all four Atlantic Provinces. You will help keep CFIB’s profile visible through targeted advocacy on behalf of our membership.

 

Business Support: You will support and guide business counsellors who assist our members, as well as directly engage with our members and our sales team.

 

We provide media training and an exciting work environment where you see the direct results of your lobbying and political action efforts.  You bring solid education and experience in economics, business, public policy and/or political science.  You have a minimum of five years of experience in a legislative or policy environment and have a strong commitment and interest in the SME sector.

 

While not necessary, ability to work in both French and English would be a significant asset.

 

Some travel will be required.
