Thomson Reuters is seeking a driven, self-motivated individual to manage the impact of financial regulations in the derivatives industry on Thomson Reuters’ business and its customers. This is a multi-faceted business role with both internal and external focus.
Responsibilities:
- The person in this role will track the regulatory process conducted by the local regulator (CFTC).
- He/she will also translate the impact of the rules (those in draft and final) on Thomson Reuters’ business and its customers.
- He/she will work with product managers to communicate the necessary changes to ensure our products, particularly trading venues, are compliant.
- The Regulation Director will act as a liaison between Legal, Compliance, Strategy, and Product Management.
- He/she will be an important subject matter expert on regulation for Thomson Reuters’ senior management and our customers, including education on what the upcoming regulations mean to them.
- The Regulation Director will produce documents (for internal and external audiences), lead webinars to educate internal staff and customers on the impact of regulation.
- He/she will be a resource to the Thomson Reuters sales organization as they field questions from customers about regulation and how Thomson Reuters will meet their regulatory needs.
- Regulation is a key aspect to Thomson Reuters’ business strategy, which includes the operation of a CFTC-regulated trading platform (SEF), and this is a critical role for the organization.
- This role reports to the Head of Regulation, Marketplaces.
Required Skill Sets:
- The successful candidate will have at least 10 years’ business experience working in regulated markets.
- This role is based in the US (New York strongly preferred) and will cover US regulations (Dodd Frank Act).
- The person in this role will also serve as a local resource for questions pertaining to regulatory topics in EMEA, including EMIR, MiFID, MiFIR.
- This position does not require a law degree and/or compliance background.
- The successful candidate will be comfortable handling both high level aspects of regulation (e.g., “how will the market structure in FX adapt in response to regulation?”) and the minute details of how Thomson Reuters products will function in a regulated market (e.g., “how will Thomson Reuters gather, store, and distribute countertparty’s legal identifiers?”).
- The person in this role must be able to synthesize and communicate complex information to audiences with varying degrees of subject matter knowledge.
- This role requires minimal travel.
