The Eastern Division's Risk Management Department, located in Lanham, Maryland, has an immediate opening for a Division Risk Director DRD).
The DRD will assist in the development and execution of all Corporate Property/Casualty Insurance, Loss Control/Safety, Environmental and Audit/Review activities as defined by the Corporate Risk Management Department and implemented at Divisional Level.
The DRD will directly report to the Divisional CFO and indirectly report to the VP Risk Management Operations located within the Corporate Risk Management Department in Pleasanton, CA. The purpose of the DRD is to drive consistent, measurable and sustainable cost savings to the Division through improved delivery of modern risk management, safety, loss control and environmental support services.
Qualifications:
*BS or equivalent college degree.
*Significant operational experience in Risk Finance, Alternative Risk Finance, and Enterprise Risk Management including property and casualty safety, safety/loss control experience and Risk Management Analytics. Finance, legal, claims management, OSHA compliance experience a plus.
*Strong project design and management /execution skills including regulatory compliance oversight skills.
*Excellent team development and communication skills.
*Strong operational enterprise risk management, insurance and safety program design and implementation skills and background.
*Excellent negotiation skills.
*Strong leadership skills that reflect Safeway's ACCT Competencies model.
*High level of analytical skills.
*Retail management experience.
*Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office including Excel and Word.
*Acceptable HR File review, including service scores. (For internal applicants.)
Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
*Manage the oversight of all Corporate Risk Management Programs and Initiatives.
*Be responsible to Division CFO and President as the primary risk management technical resource.
*Responsible to Corporate Risk Management for primary communication and risk evaluation locus on divisional Retail and operational activities that may have an impact on Risk Management operations.
*Casualty and WC exposure analysis and data collection. Frequency/severity reporting across all casualties lines and supports Casualty renewal process.
*Property exposure analysis and data collection and support property renewal process.
*Program implementation/best practices/data analysis for Culture of Safety as well as program audit/oversight.
*Assist divisional and district loss control in post accident training of store management and retraining of frequently injured employees. Development and execution of division specific programs as identified through ERM process.
*Responsible for the assessment, organization and management of all Safeway operational risk management activities, projects, and personnel at the divisional level.
*Coordinate and provide high level oversight for all property and casualty claims at the divisional level.
*Initiate and conduct, in conjunction with the Corporate Risk Director/VP RMO, the annual performance appraisal of divisional unit managers.
*Help create development plans/career pathing/performance objectives.
*Actively seek ways to generate retail revenue opportunities through effective use of internally developed or externally managed risk management tools, products and resources.
*Aggressively seek ways to strengthen the effectiveness and organizational reach of the Corporate Risk Management Department across Safeway Retail, Distribution, Manufacturing and Transportation businesses, including the use of alternative risk management tools and advanced analytical tools.
*Constructively represent the Company on/or at local risk management, claims administration, regulatory and retail groups.
*Provide consultation or expert advice to management; involved in planning long or short term business objectives.
*Investigates and resolves matters on behalf of management.
*Represent the company in handling complaints, arbitrating disputes or resolving grievances.
*Travel required 50%.
oThe employee will be responsible for the cost of personal mileage whether using their personal vehicle or a company provided vehicle. The company will be responsible for the cost of business mileage and may provide a company vehicle if policy requirements are met and maintained.
*Other responsibilities/projects as required.
Salary: Commensurate with experience and qualifications.
