SCOPE OF POSITION:

The Tax Director’s primary emphasis will be full responsibility for managing and recording of the Company’s quarterly and annual income tax provision in compliance with the authoritative guidance.  The position will be responsible for tax disclosures and managing the relationship and audit of the income tax provision by external auditors.
The Tax Director will also conduct Federal and State research and planning activities including such areas as assessing the impact of new legislation, business restructuring or reorganizations, accounting methods or pronouncements.  The Tax Director will also participate in strategic planning and forecasting.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Includes the following core duties and responsibilities; other responsibilities may be assigned.
Ensure that the company’s quarterly and annual income tax provisions are timely and accurately prepared in accordance with GAAP/ ASC 740, SEC requirements, and other authoritative guidance related to accounting for income taxes.
Develop and coordinate implementation of Sarbanes-Oxley documentation, departmental policies, procedures and processes principally related to accounting for income taxes to minimize risk. 
Implement and maintain One Source Tax Provision software, and develop a tax sensitized general ledger with the assistance of the Controller’s group.
Maintain technical expertise in ASC 740 and related guidance, develop staff with knowledge of the same, and clearly and effectively communicate results and recommendations to management.
Fully manage quarterly review of income tax provision and the annual audit with external auditors.
Review transfer-pricing documentation and requisite corporate policies and assist in ensuring that Company personnel coordinate policies with operations.
Conduct research and technical tax reviews of Federal and State tax matters, provide recommendations and assist in planning activities.
Manage Federal and State income tax audits effectively.
 
QUALIFICATIONS:

Comprehensive knowledge and technical expertise of authoritative guidance for accounting for income taxes, and strong knowledge federal and state corporate income tax laws.
Competent in utilizing standard business, tax, and accounting software applications.   Proficient with One Source Tax Provision software, or similar.
Requires technical tax and management accounting knowledge, as well as general business operations knowledge.   Related industry experience with manufacturing or consumer products industry a plus.
Experience with multistate income tax compliance and planning, including review and analysis of state nexus issues, combined reporting and limitations on utilization of net operating losses.
Strong analytical skills and the ability to exercise independent judgment in the application of tax laws to effectively minimize liabilities, risks and exposures.

EDUCATION:

Bachelor’s Degree and CPA.  Master’s of Taxation degree preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

Experienced in the research, interpretation and application of ASC 740 and related guidance.
Managed audits of income tax provision of SEC Registrant Company financial statements; or prior experience with SEC Registrant Company with primary job responsibility for managing external financial statement audits. 
8-15 years tax experience in public/private accounting.
Knowledge of Federal, State and International corporate tax matters, including strong knowledge of federal and state limitations on utilization of net operating losses.

Proficient in Microsoft Word, Power Point, Excel, and One Source Tax Provision Software.
