Director, Tax recruitment
Prudential Investment Management ("PIM") is seeking a Tax Director to work in its PREI Finance group. The group reports directly to the Asset Management Segment VP Finance, and interacts with all levels of business management in PREI. The successful candidate will be part of the group responsible for tax oversight of PREI's fund level tax engagements and will report directly to the Vice President, Tax.
The Tax Manager will be responsible for liaising with various internal personnel to collect information needed for the completion of fund level tax engagements performed by external accounting firms. They must have a good understanding of U.S. tax rules or real estate investment companies, particularly REIT's and partnerships.
Examples of the successful candidate's responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
- Manage the overall tax compliance function for a large real estate company
- Internal management of fund and underlying entity level tax engagements with external accounting firms, including the review of the returns (federal and state)
- Coordination of estimated and/or actual tax information needed by fund participants
- Responsibility for resolution of tax notices from any taxing authority
- Involvement in tax support for product and deal structuring
- Provide guidance and leadership to junior associates and may be responsible for direct supervision of a staff
- Teach tax training classes
- Preparation of fund FIN 48 / ASC 740 analysis
- Tax research
- Review quarterly REIT tax compliance tests
Skills
Education/Experience Requirements:
- Bachelors degree in accounting, finance, economics or other related business disciplines required, CPA and/or Masters degree in tax or accounting a plus
- Corporate Tax experience (8+ years), financial services sector is preferred with life insurance and / or real estate and / or partnerships expertise a plus
- Knowledge of the taxation of Real Estate Investment Trusts (REITS).
- Strong project management skills
- Strong computer skills - proficient in Lotus Notes, standard Microsoft applications and CorpTax Compliance software

- Knowledge of Corporate Tax topics, specifically related to real estate investments
- Strong communication skill both written and oral
- Superior interpersonal, communication and partnering skills
- Highly developed research and analytical skills

Other comments:
- Overtime will be required, especially during peak periods
- Travel to Prudential's corporate headquarters in Newark, NJ will be required
