The Role:
Ritchie Bros. seeks a business-focused, seasoned, strategic, and process-minded leader to be our Director, Total Rewards located at our global headquarters in Burnaby.
Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Human Resources, you will lead the organization in assessing the various compensation structures with a particular focus on sales compensation practices, incentives, and creating an attractive total rewards strategy aligned with the Total Rewards Philosophy. You will work in close collaboration with managers and executives across the organization to review compensation structures, assess competitive market trends and ensure compliance with legislation in order to ensure competitive pay for performance practices.
Specifically, the successful candidate will:
- Be responsible for the overall direction, management and delivery of HR policies and programs related to compensation, benefits, HRIS, and mobility;
- Provide current market information, best practices and trends to ensure development of targeted and relevant compensation and benefits programs that support the strategic direction of the organization;
- Coordinate participation of the organization in compensation and benefit market surveys across various jurisdictions;
- Lead the review of the global sales compensation structure and implement appropriate changes validated through external benchmarking;
- Develop a multi-year global benefits strategy, inclusive of anticipated legislative changes and congruent with local practices aligned to the total Rewards Philosophy;
- Establish and direct core HR services platforms including compensation programs, wage and salary reviews, annual and local market adjustments to ensure they support Ritchie Bros total compensation philosophy to support the strategic objectives;
- Develop employee communications tools around total compensation, including compensation and benefits;
- Act as a resource for business units in the areas of compensation and benefits and coordinate strategy as required;
- Oversee management of ESPP Plan and all equity plans;
- Lead the HRIS integration of Oracle platforms in support of Total Rewards, recommend changes that further enhance efficiency, effectiveness and the “single source of HR data”.
Candidate Profile:
- Hold a university degree in Business Administration, Human Resources or in a related field; MBA preferred;
- Minimum of ten (10) years of relevant work experience including experience in a senior HR compensation and benefits specialist role and in private sector organizations;
- Experience in publicly traded corporations, SOX compliance, and reporting requirements;
- Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing compensation policies, programs, procedures and tools;
- Demonstrated experience in dealing with executive compensation;
- In-depth technical knowledge of total compensation issues such as compensation structures, surveys, group benefits and others;
- Solid analytical abilities, combined with a clear focus on thoroughness and quality of information;
- Ability to work in a dynamic, fast paced environment and to adapt quickly to changing priorities;
- Ability to effect and manage change positively;
- Ability to influence others and to gain support for his/her ideas;
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to provide advice and coaching to managers and employees;
- Results-oriented; ability to “roll up” her/his sleeves and get involved at a detailed level to ensure that appropriate solutions are delivered in a timely way;
- A team player; ability to adapt to different styles and to develop cooperative relationships with employees at all levels in the organization;
