SUMMARY:
Manages underwriting and individual risk pricing operations for a large multi-state Business Center territory. Makes key underwriting decisions, identifies operational opportunities and builds strategies to pursue those opportunities and maintain control of underwriting and pricing operations.

PRIMARY DUTIES:
Oversees multiple Personal Lines Underwriting Teams in a Business Center with responsibility for a large and diverse multi-state territory.

Provides direction on underwriting and individual risk pricing support functions across all Business Center job families.

Develops operational plans for underwriting and individual risk pricing functions, including development and training of new and existing staff. Identifies and analyzes opportunities for increased profit and productivity and develops supporting strategies. Monitors and analyzes overall Business Center underwriting results and agency feedback, providing direction and corrective action as required to meet profit, productivity and quality objectives for the Business Center.

Recognized as an underwriting expert in the territory. Develops and maintains effective and efficient relationships with Personal Lines Region Staff and agencies. Addresses agency issues and develops relationships with Agency, Portfolio and other business unit managers to add value across all Personal Lines operations and serve customers in a cost-effective fashion.

Participates in key underwriting decisions and interprets department policies and procedures. Maintains operations that are compliance with governmental requirements.

WORK EXPERIENCE:
10 or more years underwriting, product management and/or related operational experience, including 5 years in a management capacity. Demonstrated comprehensive knowledge and understanding of personal lines underwriting, the Travelers product portfolio, independent agency operations and personal lines coverage. Proven ability to effectively manage, communicate, negotiate, lead and make decisions.

CERTIFICATES/DEGREES:
College degree or equivalent.
