Director, US College Marketing

The Director of College Marketing is responsible for creating and delivering the long term strategy for the College Marketing department, making sure that it is aligned with the long terms goals and objectives of the US College Sales and College Editorial teams. This position includes the leadership and management of the College marketing staff and the management of the marketing operational and promotions budgets. The marketing efforts should make optimal use of all channels including, but not limited to: Sales personnel; direct mail, e-mail, and social media or other online marketing; conferences; and advertising. The Director oversees all aspects of marketing budgeting and planning. The Director works in conjunction with Sales, Editorial, Customer Service, Marketing Production, Books Production, and Finance departments as well as authors, freelancers and consultants to ensure that the College publishing group meets their sales revenue and profitability goals and with other SAGE offices to optimally sell their books into the markets served from the US office. Provide long term strategic vision and leadership for the College Marketing department which is responsible for marketing books to the United States, Canada, Central and South America Develop and implement a textbooks marketing and sales strategy that successfully penetrates the market. Identify strategies to optimally sell books published by other SAGE offices into markets served from the US. Play a key role in budgeting, forecasting and cost management. Hire, develop, lead and manage the performance of marketing management staff. Develop and manage the College Marketing expense budget. Oversees planning and implementation (in collaboration with the Sales Director) of bi-yearly National Sales Meetings. Participate on the Publishing Committee to provide input and direction for new book selections. Collaborate with the Director of Library Marketing and the managers of the Marketing Systems and PR teams as a key member of the SAGE Marketing Department's Senior Management Team. Collaborate with key support functions within SAGE, such as Customer Service, IT, Distribution, Finance, Production, Art and Manufacturing. Provide marketing input and support for any new SAGE products and strategies. ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES The additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following: Involvement in key title cover designs Oversee pricing strategies and approve print runs Oversee faculty review code process, title classification codes, and course/discipline/subject codes.
