Director/Team Leader – Tax Assurance & Control recruitment

The Glasgow ITU team is part of the International Tax Utility. The team performs a variety of control and operational functions over a variety of mainly dividend related withholding taxes generated by trading activities across the Equity Trading Division globally. The team works closely with Business Unit, Tax Risk, Operations and Finance counterparts globally to ensure that balances are reconciled and inherent risks managed appropriately.

Role Description:

At an exciting time of growth and development, a new opportunity has been created within the Glasgow Tax Assurance Control team to drive forward the Tax Control framework. This team is primarily responsible for process analysis, identifying, monitoring and mitigating risk across a number of tax processes within the Firm.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Business analysis - supporting the enhancement of the tax control framework
• Undertake process deep dives, identifying and implementing proactive detective controls across Operations.  
• Co-ordination of all reporting submissions for ITU, including regulatory reports
• Manage stakeholders via co-ordination of BU specific dashboard reporting.
• Maintain the RCSA framework for ITU
• Monitor RITA population and review all tax related items and drive remediations
• Support ITU colleagues in relation to the Global Tax Initiative project
• Manage the month-end reconciliation process, encompassing one or more of Tax Unclaimed, Tax Reclaim Provision, Tax Credit, Reverse Charge, Position Services and/or Prepayment WHT Balance Sheet accounts.

Skills Required

• The ideal candidate may have 3-5 years experience.  Highly committed self motivated with professional outlook
• Proactive Team Player who actively promotes knowledge transfer
• Strong Communication skills and reporting experience
• Ability to grasp detailed concepts quickly
• Provide information on impact risk associated with work
• Comfortable with High volume data analysis
• Able to collate, present critically analyse data
• Prepared to work additional hours to meet business needs
• High regard for attention to detail, accuracy quality
• Has flexible outlook willing to adapt to the changing needs of the department

Skills Desired

-Prior experience of international dividends
-Basic understanding of tax concepts such as Treaty rates, WHT and MODs desired.
-Knowledge of equity products
-Knowledge of dividend tax
-Knowledge of stock loan
-Accounting qualification
