Job Description
JOB SUMMARY:
Provide centrally managed law enforcement radio monitoring with event logging and recording, alarm monitoring of intrusion detection systems, and emergency dispatch, incident reporting,.  In addition, the National Law Enforcement Control Centers (NLECCs) will provide after‑hours emergency phone coverage for USPIS.

Additional duties may be assigned, and functions may be modified, according to business necessity.  All assigned duties or tasks are deemed to be part of the essential functions, unless such duties or tasks are unrelated to the functions listed, in which case they are deemed to be other (non-essential) functions.  Dispatchers are held accountable for successful job performance.  Job performance standards may be documented separately, and may include functions, objectives, duties or tasks not specifically listed herein.  In performing functions, duties or tasks, dispatchers are required to know and follow safe work practices, and to be aware of company policies and procedures related to job safety, including safety rules and regulations.  Dispatchers are required to notify superiors upon becoming aware of unsafe working conditions.  All functions, duties or tasks are to be carried out in an honest, ethical and professional manner, and to be performed in conformance with applicable company policies and procedures.  In the event of uncertainty or lack of knowledge of company policies and procedures, dispatchers are required to request clarification or explanations from superiors or authorized company representatives.
Operate and monitor communications via the USPIS radio communications network.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AT ENTRY
All contract dispatcher personnel assigned to the Postal Service NLECCs must meet the following minimum requirements:
A. Be a citizen of the United States of America and 21 years of age or older;
B. Have a 1 year minimum of previous satisfactory work experience as a, law enforcement dispatcher, or emergency dispatcher in civilian or military environments.
C. Be capable of maintaining professionalism under highly stressful situations;
D. Be literate in the English language to the extent of reading and understanding printed regulations, written orders and instructions, training instructions, and be able to compose reports which convey complete information;
E. Be capable of hearing ordinary phone and radio conversation with either ear;
F. Posses strong computer and data entry skills, including knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and email software.   Experience with alarm monitoring software is desirable;
G. Must have the ability to interact professionally with co-workers, Postal employees, customers, management and the public;
H. Possess ability to prioritize work from different communication sources (radio, telephone, alarm monitoring software) and reprioritize as needed;
I. Ability to work shifts covering a 24 X 7 schedule;
J. Must be able to communicate effectively in English to co-workers, Postal employees, customers, and management;
K. Advancement will be contingent upon completing APCO, DCJS, or similar dispatcher certification;
L. Possess an interim Sensitive security clearance.

Education/Experience:
High School Diploma or G.E.D. and 2 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job, as determined by the company.
